It can be hard to keep up with the constant flow of wrestling provided by WWE, and you might miss some of the best matches of the year due to that. No one can watch every single show, and catch every single match. Thankfully WWE has planned a special containing ten of the best matches of 2019 which will be hosted by former NXT Womens Champion and Smackdown GM, Paige.
What Will Be Included?
A few matches included were revealed as Kofi Kingston vs. Daniel Bryan, Pete Dunne vs. WALTER, Adam Cole vs. Johnny Gargano, and Charlotte Flair vs. Becky Lynch vs. Ronda Rousey.
I feel we will also expect to see matches like WALTER vs. Tyler Bate, AJ Styles vs. Seth Rollins, and Sasha Banks vs. Becky Lynch be included in this collection, but we will have to wait until Monday, December 30th to see what WWE selected as the best matches of the past year of competition.
This will be a lengthy upload, with full matches extending the video to last several hours in length, similar to the Intercontinental Championship special released earlier this year. These long collection style videos are great for deep dives into some wrestling and could fill an afternoon with ease. It’s something you would usually expect WWE to put out on DVD & Blu-Ray, but instead are releasing on the Network.
Will WWE Keep Doing This?
We can only hope WWE continues to produce specials like these for the network going forward. While this one will spotlight the best of 2019, it could be interesting to see WWE show some awareness and tackle the worst of the year. For every great match this year, there was something like Goldberg vs. Undertaker or the Hell in a Cell match between Seth Rollins & The Fiend. The stuff that really got the fans heated.
Another route they could take is a spotlight for more underrated, overlooked matches of the year from brands like 205 Live & NXT UK. With how much content WWE produces, some matches just get lost in the shuffle despite being fantastic.
