Like him or hate him, Drew McIntyre has all the tools to become one of the biggest stars in the WWE.
He has charismatic appeal that makes us watch him even if it’s to shake our heads or cuss him out. He’s been improving each time he gets in the ring, and he has a solid collection of hardware to boast about.
WWE legend, The Rock, thinks so, and said in an interview, “I think he’s got a great look, great build,” and to continue working on connecting with the audience as it’s the most important thing.
The trick is finding his niche.
In many ways, he’s following in Triple H’s and the Rock’s footsteps, and that may be the plan.
Triple H started out as Hunter Hearst Helmsley in singles matches before eventually joining Shawn Michaels to form DX (Degeneration X), and then breaking away after feuding with Michaels to become the cerebral assassin and rise to new heights.
The Rock started in singles as Rocky Maivia. After so-so reactions similar to Triple H early on, he became the Rock and joined the Nation of Domination. Instead of feuding with Farooq (Ron Simmons), he basically took it over before setting out on his own and becoming the superstar we’re most familiar with.
Drew McIntyre has followed the same path from singles to joining Shane McMahon’s stable as the enforcer. All that’s left is for him to become an anti-hero by turning on Shane, which considering the rest of Shane’s stable are lacking when compared to him, shouldn’t be too long. It’s only natural that as a character and person, he’d want to venture into something bigger and better, and what better way than by turning on Shane. Unlike Reigns, who McIntyre matches up perfectly against, Shane wouldn’t have anyone capable to defending him against McIntyre.
Just imagine the glorious carnage of Claymores being dished out to the Revival, Elias, and Shane before McIntyre stomps off to carve his own path.
The possibilities?
An angry and hungry McIntyre would be dangerous for everyone on Raw, especially Lesner.
How awesome would a match between them be? Or better yet, a triple or Four-way match with Reigns and Rollins involved?
That would be a pay-per-view worth paying to see.
