It’s Wednesday, meaning it’s time for another preview of what’s sure to be a great night of wrestling action! First up we’re looking at NXT, where even though we only have two matches confirmed, it somehow still looks pretty dang loaded. Let’s get into it!
First, a card change.
Earlier this week, a triple threat match was announced between Pete Dunne, Killian Dain & Damian Priest. This would be the culmination of an angle that’s been building for some time and the winner of this three way will get a shot at Adam Cole’s NXT Championship at Survivor Series.
This was originally announced to take place on this episode of WWE NXT. But while the match is still happening, it’s now been moved, instead occurring at TakeOver: WarGames. So whoever’s going to win that is gonna end up having quite the weekend ahead of them.
It’s possible that this being announced for NXT was simply a miscommunication and it was always meant to be on WarGames, given the gravity of the match and how long they’ve built it up. It’s also possible that they’ve shifted things around after adding tons more names to the show, given that…
More invaders from Raw and SmackDown than ever are expected.
In addition to the Revival, several names are rumored to be on this show, presumably spotted backstage and on-standby. They are Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, Shorty G, Mustafa Ali, King Corbin, Montez Ford, Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. The thought that Ford is here without Angelo Dawkins is a little curious. People may have just missed him and the Street Profits might be showing up in full, but perhaps there are other plans. It stands out to me that Shorty G, Ali and Ford are all great cruiserweight workers – Ford hasn’t been a part of the division thus far but always struck me as someone who’d make a great Cruiserweight champ.
I really feel like the Cruiserweight title should, and will, end up being defended at WarGames, with every other champion busy in the titular stip matches. Any of those three challenging Lio Rush would make for a great and intriguing match.
The Revival vs. Bobby Fish & Kyle O’Reilly (Non-title)
Man, what a match to just get out of nowhere this is. The Revival make their long awaited return to NXT TV and do so for a massive match against the NXT Tag Team Champions. Fun fact, these are the only ever multi-time tag champs in NXT’s history squaring off here.
To say this is gonna be awesome is a real understatement. Good as the Revival can be on the main roster, they were among the greatest teams ever in the NXT atmosphere. Their oldschool style should suit them well against the always extremely popular Undisputed Era.
Regardless of who wins, this will just be a real treat to see.
Ladder Match: Adam Cole vs. Dominik Dijakovic (Non-title)
After last week’s brutal encounter between Io Shirai and Mia Yim, we get an equivalent for the men’s WarGames match now. The winner of this will earn a big advantage for his team, as they will be the ones sending their people in first and therefore having the numbers.
Beyond that, this looks like it should be an utterly awesome ladder match. Cole is a super worker who has been on a hot streak for a long while, and Dijakovic is a crazy freak athlete. Put these two in a big match with a ladder involved and it’s hard not to expect something special here.
