After taking a ladder to the face and crashing through a ladder to the arena floor, Mia Yim is among the Superstars listed on this week’s NXT Injury Report. Yim was picked by Rhea Ripley as the final member of her team for the upcoming War Games PPV, after Yim ran out to help Ripley, Tegan Nox, Candice LeRae & Dakota Kai fend off the members of Team Shayna, following Dakotas match against Shayna Bazler. This potential injury could put Yim on the shelf and off the team for War Games.
Mia Yim would lose the Ladder match to Io Shirai following interference by NXT UK Womens Champion Kay Lee Rae, meaning Shaynas team gets the advantage going into War Games.
The Injuries Suffered
The NXT Injury Report states that Yim suffered a Nasal Fracture & possibly Fractured Ribs, and given the brutality that is a war games match, entering injured would make her a liability to her team as a whole. While no one is questioning the toughness of Mia Yim, not even her biggest detractor in Malcolm Bivens, you need to watch out for your safety and not risk your career on a single match.
War Games would be the biggest stage Yim has ever been on, so you know she will do everything in her power to make it to this event and be cleared, but Rhea Ripley will need to have a backup plan just incase Yim isn’t cleared to compete come November 23rd.
Could It Be Toni Time?
While Rhea Ripley wouldn’t want to admit it, she respects Toni Storm. They feuded over the NXT UK Womens Championship, with Ripley beating Storm to become the inaugural champ, and Storm eventually beating Ripley to end that reign. After Storms defeat at the hands of Kay Lee Rae, she hasn’t been seen often on WWE TV. Will Ripley call upon an old rival who’s toughness she’s well aware of? I’m sure Storm would be more than happy to be locked in a cage with Kay Lee Rae as well.
Dakota Kai’s Redemption
Dakota Kai has been trying to prove herself in NXT since day one, with mixed results to this point. After her recent return from injury, she has been more fired up than ever before, and she took Shayna Bazler to her limits just last week on NXT. Mia Yim got the final spot over Kai, so even if offered she might refuse the role on the team out of spite. However much like Storm wanting to get her hands on Kay Lee Rae, Kai desperately wants a win over Shayna, and would enter War Games to get that.
While I personally hope Mia Yim is able to compete in the dual caged mayhem of War Games, both Storm & Kai would be excellent additions to what will be the biggest spectacle in NXT womens Division history. There isn’t much time between now and November 23rd, but who knows how this situation will unwind. Keep your eyes open, as we here at The Overtimer will do our best to keep you up to date.
