Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here looking to continue on with the previews for tonight’s episode of AEW Dynamite! With a little over an hour ’til show time, there’s still plenty left to cover, so let’s not dawdle too much longer!
We’ve got a very interesting match-up in the women’s division to look forward to…
Emi Sakura vs. Big Swole
Sakura is of course the woman who trained AEW World Women’s Champion Riho, and went on to challenge for the title herself at AEW Full Gear. So she’s currently considered to be a fairly major part of the division, and her ranking at #3 backs that up. Sakura is pretty easily the most experienced regular competitor in the division, and is a great solid hand for any of them to face off against. Which is great, because much of AEW’s women’s division is young and talented but quite green.
Big Swole is one of these examples, though she’s definitely further along than some others. She’s got a lot to her game, a lot of power and athleticism, and is more than capable of having a strong 10 minute indy match. Working on TV is a bit of a different ballgame however. This is after all her first time on live television, finally making her AEW Dynamite debut after first appearing in the All Out Casino Royale and having wrestled four times on AEW Dark. Just this past episode of Dark told her inspiring story, fighting Crohn’s Disease, which at one point she was told would give her just half an hour to live, and later that it would prevent her from ever having children or having an active live.
She’s since bested all of these things, and has impressed enough in tryouts to be officially signed to an AEW contract. Now, she faces Sakura and on paper she seems like quite the underdog. However, I think Emi’s time in the sun here was always meant to be somewhat short-lived. This is a youth-focused promotion after all! Big Swole to score the upset.
