Ladies and gentlemen, whether you realize it or not, we are at the precipice of a three-day weekend of pro wrestling PPVs. Of course WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2019 is this Sunday. But that’s not even close to all. The National Wrestling Alliance, which really came out of the woodwork to impress a lot of people in the fall of 2019, are returning to PPV for the first time in April tomorrow night, with their event, Into The Fire. And if that’s not enough, tonight, Ring of Honor is putting on what is nominally their biggest event of the year, the WrestleMania-equivalent if you weel, ROH Final Battle 2019!
It’s the latter that I’ll be discussing right now, as we have ten matches to look into! So let’s not waste any more time.
Dan Maff vs. Jeff Cobb
Big ups to the creators of this match graphic for making these men’s heads look absolutely enormous. You’d think for sure you were looking at a clash of the titans, a battle of the colossi. It… really isn’t that, but it’s gonna be a fun mean man match regardless.
Jeff Cobb is always a fun one to see in action. I don’t think anyone else in wrestling can be more aptly described as a brick sh*t house than him. He is not a tall man, but is the pure embodiment of thickness, and a staggering amount of that is pure muscle. He is powerful and stupid agile, as well as a legit Olympic-caliber wrestler. He is one of the more mind-blowing athletes in pro wrestling. And that’s really saying something when you consider how high that bar has become.
He’s a pretty clear star for ROH right now, and depending on how long he stays there, he basically has to become ROH Champion at some point. Cobb over.
ROH Final Battle 2019 airs tonight on iPPV, 7PM CT.
