Ladies and gentlemen, whether you realize it or not, we are at the precipice of a three-day weekend of pro wrestling PPVs. Of course WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2019 is this Sunday. But that’s not even close to all. The National Wrestling Alliance, which really came out of the woodwork to impress a lot of people in the fall of 2019, are returning to PPV for the first time in April tomorrow night, with their event, Into The Fire. And if that’s not enough, tonight, Ring of Honor is putting on what is nominally their biggest event of the year, the WrestleMania-equivalent if you weel, ROH Final Battle 2019!
It’s the latter that I’ll be discussing right now, as we have ten matches to look into! So let’s not waste any more time.
ROH Television Championship: Shane Taylor (c) vs. Dragon Lee
They’ve attempted something of a Summer of Punk storyline with Shane Taylor keeping a death grip on that TV title in spite of making it very clear that he does not intend to re-sign with Ring of Honor. While it’s obviously a storyline, it’s based in reality enough as it legitimately does appear that this will be Taylor’s last night with the company.
So naturally you need a good challenger to take that belt off of him and Dragon Lee certainly seems like a great choice. It’s sorta interesting that he’s using his CMLL name here, as he had to change it in New Japan, where he’s currently known as Ryu Lee. Either way, Dragon Lee is a fantastic young talent for certain, and seems like he’d make for a great pick for ROH Television Champion. The bout itself will likely have a David and Goliath story going, but Dragon Lee will find a way to win and become ROH’s hero.
ROH Final Battle 2019 airs tonight on iPPV, 7PM CT.
