Ladies and gentlemen, whether you realize it or not, we are at the precipice of a three-day weekend of pro wrestling PPVs. Of course WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2019 is this Sunday. But that’s not even close to all. The National Wrestling Alliance, which really came out of the woodwork to impress a lot of people in the fall of 2019, are returning to PPV for the first time in April tomorrow night, with their event, Into The Fire. And if that’s not enough, tonight, Ring of Honor is putting on what is nominally their biggest event of the year, the WrestleMania-equivalent if you weel, ROH Final Battle 2019!
It’s the latter that I’ll be discussing right now, as we have ten matches to look into! So let’s not waste any more time.
Silas Young & Josh Woods vs. Dalton Castle & Joe Hendry
Young & Woods (aka Two Guys, One Tag) are a fairly recent pairing that have quickly found themselves gaining momentum, yet to lose as a team. Castle and Hendry are basically in the same boat. But the latter has evidently gained a big following for the oddball pairing that they make.
And whaddya know, Silas Young finds himself at odds with Dalton Castle yet again. Those two once feuded for what may have actually been a year and a half. I always thought Silas was among the more underrated competitors in Ring of Honor. Cool old school wrestler look with some intensity and a more interesting moveset than one would expect. Dalton Castle on the other hand is, on his best night, absolutely tremendous in every way. Flamboyantly charismatic yet bizarrely powerful.
Unfortunately he’s been dealing with serious injuries for quite some time that have left him nowhere near close to 100% and it’s affected his career in a lot of ways. A tag team sure can help protect you, though. Castle & Hendry to solidify their status as a rising team.
ROH Final Battle 2019 airs tonight on iPPV, 7PM CT.
