WWE Tables, Ladders and Chairs 2019 is coming up this weekend. And the card is coming together fairly nicely honestly, in my opinion. In spite of being bereft of world title matches, which is never all that fun, and even the Fiend being specifically not used on this show just to save it for later, it looks like it’ll be a fun time. It’s a B PPV through and through, but no reason we can’t get some fun matches. Last night, there was a match-up – and specifically it’s stip – that I speculated on after the Raw opening segment and this match was since confirmed. Seems like it was actually unveiled during that Street Profits news segment and I missed it… busy writing other articles at the time!
But better late than never, I can now confirm…
Rusev will be facing Bobby Lashley in a Tables match.
This is fitting, all things considered. Of course Rusev ended up putting Lashley through a table after Lashley jumped him during his signing of the divorce papers, which thusly separated him from Lana. It wasn’t too hard to put two and two together, given that TLC was but days away at the time. But it’s also fitting in terms of the two men’s status. This is considered a fairly major feud by WWE, thanks largely to the big views it’s segments get on YouTube. And to be fair, more often than not, the crowd reaction for these segments is significantly better than any other segment on either show. The ratings are another matter, that do not reflect them as being a success. But still, as far as Things WWE Are Doing Right Now go, this is working out much more than most of their other storylines.
So it’s big enough to get one of WWE TLC’s titular stips, but not one of the bigger ones. The Tables match is basically the mid-way match, a bigger deal than a Chairs match but certainly not seen on the same level as a Ladder or actual TLC match. Works out.
With no DQs in play, Lana will almost definitely end up involved and I’d almost be shocked if she doesn’t end up getting sent through a table herself, one way or another. But I think on balance… I’m gonna say Bobby Lashley over. This is partially because I don’t think the feud will be ending here with just their first match and thus you’d have the heel win, partially because Rusev’s status in WWE is perpetually in question these days, and partially because WWE loves nothing more than beating popular babyfaces to try and get heat on a major heel. This just fits that bill too well.
