On WWE Backstage this week, it was announced that John Morrison was finally returning to the company that initially made him a star. Since leaving WWE, he has only gotten better and arguably more popular. A main event star for companies like Impact Wrestling & Lucha Underground, his return will be very good for the WWE roster who is currently lacking in stars. What could we potentially see in 2020 for The Shaman of Sexy?
John Morrison vs. Seth Rollins
When asked who he wanted to face if he was to come back to WWE back in 2016, he had this to say ““Well I’ve fought most them. Everyone knows some day I’m gonna beat the crap out of Seth Rollins – that would be awesome. I’d love to beat the crap out of him. I’d just love to have a great match with Seth Rollins. Roman Reigns, I’d love to wrestle him in like 10 years if he’s still wrestling, because by then hopefully he’d figure out how to work.”
Ignoring the outdated comments about Roman Reigns, who has made leaps and bounds in regards to his in ring work over the past few years, a match with Rollins is intriguing. With Seth Rollins showing signs of returning to his heelish ways, John Morrison could be a perfect opponent for him. They both work a fast paced and athletic style, making this a potential show stealing matchup.
A match between Morrison and Roman would also have potential to be excellent. Roman works best with athletic opponents who match their speed to his power. I feel like the Rollins match is potentially bigger though, so Morrison vs. Reigns will likely have to wait.
Reuniting With The Miz
John Morrison & The Miz were one of the most entertaining duos of their time. Their dirt sheer segments helped build their characters, and they’re former tag team champions. They’re also great rivals, with their Falls Count Anywhere match for the WWE Championship standing out.
The tag team divisions in WWE are pretty sparse for popular teams right now, so reuniting old fan favorites would be an easy fix. That would be a boring outcome for his return, but WWE could want to play it safe.
