Heya everybody. I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer, here to give you all the coverage, every major result and story coming out of tonight’s edition of WWE Raw. And on this cold December edition of Monday Night Raw, which we we are more than two hours into, I gotta be honest, I’m still reeling from the fact that we just had an hour long Gauntlet match that had no finish. Not even the courtesy of announcing a DQ or a No Contest, it just ended without a bell ringing. This is something of a cardinal sin in wrestling, let’s be real.
But this article is about what happened afterwards. WWE United States Champion Rey Mysterio, who was watching in the hopes of scouting out his next challenger, as the winner of that gauntlet would’ve gone on to face him for his title. Mysterio then made his way out to help tend to Humberto Carrillo after he found himself stretchered out.
However, that’s when Seth Rollins and the AOP emerged. Looking to get revenge on Rey after he tried to help out Kevin Owens earlier, the three of them attacked Rey in gang-style fashion, and ‘returned’ his new signature weapon, the steel pipe, to him.
You can see my recap of this segment below:
After we come back from commercial, Humberto is being stretchered away. Rollins and AOP emerge… Rollins is holding the steel pipe that Rey gave to Kevin Owens last week! AOP swarm in on Rey in the ring, it’s a three-on-one assault! Seth tells Rey they didn’t come to fight, chastises him for attacking the boys. Says they just came to give him what belonged to him, after all this steel pipe is his. Akam and Rezar with a double team assault. Rollins notes how Rey gave Owens the pipe to use on him. Says an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. But that’s not him, he is a merciful leader! So tonight is your lucky night, Rey. Tells him to remember this one though, because now, he owes him one. Turns to walk away as his music plays… then suddenly turns and rushes to nail the Curbstomp on Rey!
Afterwards, Seth made clear that he intends to challenge Rey Mysterio for the WWE United States Championship next week.
