Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here, to recap tonight’s edition of WWE Raw as it’s still going. Here’s a short excerpt of my live recap, talking about the backstage segment that just aired:
Earlier Today, Charlotte came to meet Becky Lynch backstage. They quickly state that they don’t like each other. Charlotte says she doesn’t like the Kabuki Warriors more, suggests making her Becky Two Belts again. Becky says she’d rather take a chance about them to collect an old debt. She’s going to face them two-on-one tonight, just like Charlotte did last week!
That laid it out pretty clearly in all honestly, but for completion’s sake…
Becky Lynch will now be facing the Kabuki Warriors in a 2-on-1 handicap match.
This mirrors Charlotte’s same attempts last week, which failed. When she took on Asuka and Kairi Sane by her lonesome, she was booked quite strong, looking very good in defeat in one of the best handicap matches I can recall ever seeing. Nonetheless, she was defeated.
I would expect basically more the same here for Becky Lynch. And I have to say, it’s rare that you see such a logical and simple throughline in WWE as this one. Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair both have current issues with the Kabuki Warriors, but they also hate each other and are hesitant to team together. Charlotte tried taking on Asuka and Kairi by herself and came up short, changing her mind. Tonight, the same thing will almost certainly happen with Becky Lynch. This reasonably sets up the two of them joining forces later on down the line – the two going after the Kabuki Warriors at TLC for the WWE Women’s Tag Team titles has long been thought to be the plan – coming together to accomplish what they could not do alone. Makes sense enough to me.
