WWE SmackDown Live Recap & Results (12/13/2019)

Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here, ready to recap another edition of WWE SmackDown! I should note that I’ll be leaving soon at the time of this writing, and I really do hope to get back in time for the start of the show. But if we’re some ten minutes into WWE SmackDown and you don’t hear from me, you’ll know what happened. I’ll do my very best.

An extremely dramatic opening video recap of Roman getting showered in dog food plays, with added barks. King Corbin then opens the show. Loud boos as he stands in the ring. He thanks everyone for the warm welcome. Asks Dolph if he smells something, Dolph says he feels nauseous ’cause of that stink. It could be the people or maybe it’s the dog food they dumped over Reigns from a week ago in a completely different town. Corbin says he just came out here to tell everyone what an incredible 2019 he’s been having. Defeated Hall of Famer Kurt Angle in his final match at Mania, won the King of the Ring and this Sunday he will finish humiliating Roman Reigns at the TLC PPV. He’ll use everything at his disposal, tables, ladders and chairs to make the big dog bow down to his king. And after he puts him in his place, SmackDown will be his to rule as the sole leader. Boos.

Corbin’s seen all the promos on Fox and the nonsense on Twitter that the Big Dog is coming here unchained! What happens when a scared dog is left off his chain? He runs away! But if he comes to show himself, he has every door and window and he’ll face a fate much worse than last week. Loud chant of “You look stupid”. Says Roman isn’t showing up here tonight and he’s not the only one who likes that, the whole locker room appreciates it, and here to speak on their behalf, someone he admires for his loyalty, Dolph Ziggler.

Ziggler says for once in his life Roman was the locker room leader that he said he was, he stood up to you and what happened? You put him down! Ziggler cackles. Baron says whoever steps to him will be put down as well. Ziggler demands they all join him as they hail King Corbin. They seriously start repeating “All Hail King Corbin” ala Sharmell. The New Day interrupts! They put over the venue but note seeing the buffoon donning a Burger King crown talking about an imaginary kingdom that he rules here on SmackDown. But as soon as their name is uttered, like magic, they appear to talk about him! Baron says if you wanna talk magic, why doesn’t Kofi show us that trick where Brock Lesnar took his WWE Championship in seven seconds? Kofi clarifies it was eight seconds but he’s still the people’s champion. Applause!

Kofi says as far as comparing years go, he won the WWE Championship at WrestleMania and for six months he defended it against all comers, including Baron’s court jester Dolph Ziggler! Chant of “Kofi” as the heels are not happy about this. When he lost, you didn’t see him whining and complaining, that’s not his style. He put one foot in front of the other and stepped forward and that’s why they’re the WWE World Tag Team Champions. Kofi and E enter the ring, and Kofi reiterates the crowd’s point that he looks stupid. Says what they did to Roman last week was straight-up disrespectful and he doesn’t like it. Baron and Dolph try and dismiss him, only for Kofi to slap him across the face. Tells him if he wants to step up and be a locker room leader like Roman Reigns, he’ll get humiliated like Roman Reigns.

Backstage, Corbin and Ziggler find some security being taken out on the floor, one put through a table.

Sonya Deville and Mandy Rose are in the ring. In a different part of backstage, an interviewer is talking to Alexa and Nikki. Sonya and Mandy rush up the ramp into the back to take the fight to them and the teams brawl their way onto the stage!

Fire & Desire vs. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross

They fight into the ring until they’re separated enough for the bell to ring. The heels get the advantage with double teaming, they try a double suplex on Nikki Cross, Alexa drags Rose out of the ring to break up the move, Nikki counters with a Spinning Neckbreaker on Sonya, camera completely missed it, but it gets the victory.

Winners: Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross

Kind of odd to have a feud where matches can end that quick but alright.

Backstage Heavy Machinery approach Sami Zayn, they drew him for the Secret Santa and have a present for him. He opens the gift. It’s a Christmas ham. Sami calls it the worst gift he’s ever gotten in his life. Big boos. He’s a vegan and to him this is the slaughtered flesh of an animal that’s spent it’s whole life being tortured. Heavy Machinery try to apologize but he’s not accepting it. Cesaro and Shinsuke come in. Sami gets a lot more confident as he backs away. Cesaro acts like he’ll accept the ham, only to throw it on the floor. Otis is shaking with rage.

The Revival vs. Mustafa Ali & Shorty G

G gets Dash in a wristlock, Dash counters, G rolls away, spins into a drop toe hold, transition to a side headlock! Tag to Dawson, who low bridges G to the floor! Ali comes out there but gets an uppercut for his troubles. Double team back suplex facebuster onto the table! Dawson gets G in a chinlock. G fights out, hits both men, back suplex to Dawson right after Dash made the blind tag. G with a few flash pin attempts but Dash keeps kicking out. Dash blocks a kick, Fireman’s Carry Backbreaker gets 2. Tag to Dawson, Dash with a powerbomb, Dawson off the top but G with a reversal in mid-air and both men get taken down. Ali rushes in, flying headscisors takes Dash to the floor! Commercial break.

We come back to see topes and dives and stuff. Dawson with a Tiger Bomb, nearfall. “This is awesome” chant. G gets a big German Suplex, Dash with a frog splash to G, Ali with a 450 to Wilder! Ali comes off the top, gets caught out of mid-air with a Shatter Machine, and that is that!

    Winners: The Revival

Great stuff, which I could’ve seen more of it.

Bayley is backstage, Elias is singing to distract her, she doesn’t like it, Elias sings a lewd song mocking her and Sasha, Dana laughs, Bayley challenges Dana Brooke to a match, this segment is not getting a results page.

    Bayley vs. Dana Brooke

They battle back and forth, Sunset Flip Powerbomb out of the corner from Dana, Bayley just kinda does a meek face crusher and wins.

    Winner: Bayley

Man what a great opportunity for Dana Brooke to go in there and get the rub by doing two moves and getting beaten in two minutes. WWE considered this a push, I hope you understand that. This too is not getting a results page.

    Sheamus vignette.

Renee’s sit-down with the Miz starts. There are no updates on what happened with Daniel Bryan. Renee notes being there for one of the most tense moments between them. Flash back to Talking Smack where the Miz berated Bryan. Renee asks Miz why he has a change of heart now. Miz explains that Daniel and himself bring out the best and worst in each other. Whether they like or hate each other, the WWE Universe loves Daniel Bryan and he understands how important he is to the WWE Universe. He may not like Bryan but he respects him and as weird as it is for him to say, it’s finally time for the Miz to do the right thing. Renee asks him to describe what went down last week on SmackDown. Miz says it was disturbing and he can’t get the image of that photo out of his head. He had to accept that match at TLC. He said he’s a changed man himself, he became a father and there’s something that happens the first time you hold your daughter. They’re why he’s here rather than in Milwaukee for SmackDown. Renee asks if he’s afraid for what happens this Sunday against Bray. Before Miz answers, Maryse calls for him and he rushes over to see her holding an iPad. It’s a BabyCam of some sort, shown in unbelievably good quality, almost as if this were fake! Miz’s daughter is surrounded by the Firefly Funhouse puppets. They rush in to get her. The puppets are gone but the baby is crying, points at a doll in the bed. The doll’s hair is braided and it’s face is painted to look like the Fiend.

Funhouse music plays. We see a still of that same doll. Bray juts into the screen, explaining he was just trying to be nice. Says he can see just how much Miz loves his family! It’s enough to make him say “Yowie-wowie” and that’s why it’ll be so hard. “She” always used to tell him, nobody likes snitches. Says Miz was going so far to expose what happened with Daniel Bryan that he went ahead and exposed himself! Daniel Bryan is still with… him, but Miz is with Bray! He was sick once, but he fixed himself! Pain is just a chemical reaction. You can train yourself to shut it off! Slams his head into a table just to show this. Closes by saying Marine 5 was fire, the best in the series.

Corbin and Ziggler backstage find more dead henchmen.

Cesaro & Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Heavy Machinery

Tucker and Cesaro start, tie-up, Cesaro gets him in a side headlock. Shoots him off, leap frog, Tucker rolls over him, standing dropkick! Leaps to the second rope, twisting crossbody from the big boy! Tags to Otis and Shinsuke Nakamura. Lock-up, Otis throws him away! Pelvic thrusts! Waistlock from Shinsuke, Otis grabs the finger. Shinsuke stomps the feet, hits the ropes, Otis with a shoulder tackle, power throw to the corner, cover for 2. Shinsuke with a Dragon Whip, tag to Cesaro, Otis rams through their arms, tag to Tucker, comes off the top rope with a cannonball senton to both men! Cesaro gets sandwiched between the two big men and dumped from the ring!

We come back to see Tucker escape Cesaro’s chinlock, tag to Shinsuke who keeps him down with a front facelock. Crowd chants “We Want Otis” as he’s begging for a tag! Shinsuke with right hands, Tucker gets a boot up off a charge, Thesz Press takes Shinsuke down! He crawls over closer to the corner… simultaneous tags, Otis is a house of fire! Plowing through everybody, overhead belly to bellies! Cesaro comes in, boot to the gut but he jiggles! Headbutt, hoists him up, overhead throw! Yells “I’M COMIN” and charges but Shinsuke with a leaping roundhouse kick, Cesaro with an uppercut, PK from Shinsuke! Tucker has to break up the pin but gets deposited from the ring. Shinsuke wants the Kinsasha but Otis grabs him mid-run! Tag to Tucker, they want the Compactor, Cesaro pulls Shinsuke out of harms way. Otis with the Avalanche onto Cesaro, who falls to the mat! The crowd rises to their feet as Otis goes for the caterpillar, legit the loudest they’ve been so far! But Sami distracts! Cesaro throws Otis to the floor, Shinsuke with the Kinsasha to Tucker for the victory.

    Winners: Shinsuke Nakamura & Cesaro

Shinsuke was supposedly going to defend his title against Braun Strowman at TLC but he’s still not healthy enough for it, so he needed something else to do and the result was a real good tag match. But man, why Heavy Machinery aren’t tag champs as we speak is really beyond me.

    King Corbin vs. Kofi Kingston

Corbin shoves Kofi away. “STD” chant. Kofi kicks and lands some shots. Whip reversed, Corbin with a shoulder tackle. Boos. Hits the ropes, Kofi jumps to his feet, leaps up and gets caught, flips him to the outside. Kofi goes up top, Trust Fall to the floor wipes Corbin out! Kofi with a monkey flip, Corbin counters to take him up top, heymaker shot takes Kofi to the floor. Corbin takes Kofi up and drives him into the barrier. Drives him into a different one. Throws Kofi into the ring, cover for 1. Kofi taken to the apron, tries to springboard up but Corbin stops him with an uppercut laying him out on the apron!

Corbin bickers with E at ringside, drops Kofi with a right hand. Kofi fights back with shots, hits the ropes, Corbin with a running back elbow for 2. “Burger King” chants. Kofi with the boots up on charges, Baron tries his ring-around-the-ring-post, dashes in right into an SOS from Kofi! Nearfall. Corbin hoists him up for a powerbomb, but a rana counters it. Kofi with a kick to the face! Hits the ropes, Boom Drop! Kofi gets the crowd clapping along when Ziggler grabs his ankle to prevent the Trouble In Paradise! Referee ejects Ziggler to a pop! The match seems to start refocusing, but Ziggler charges right back in to attack Big E! Kofi and Baron go out as well and get involved in the fight and the match is thrown out!

    Winner: No Contest

Afterwards, E lays out Ziggler with a clothesline, gets into the ring with a mic and demands a tag match!

The New Day vs. King Corbin & Dolph Ziggler

Ziggler with a Fameasser to E, cover for a nearfall. Corbin tags in. E fights back with a Belly To Belly outta nowhere! Tag to Kofi who comes in, flies all over the place, wants a tope but Corbin cuts him off! Ziggler superkicks E on the outside – Corbin and Ziggler then assault Kofi in the ring, with Corbin driving elbows until the ref calls for the bell?

Winners: The New Day (by DQ)

Afterwards they pull out more dog food and Kofi gets handcuffed to the post. E tries to help him out but Dash and Dawson emerge from the back and hit him with a Shatter Machine on the floor, terrible idea! It looks like Kofi is doomed to suffer a dog food flavored fate, only for Roman Reigns’ music to hit!

He rushes down to a huge pop, takes out absolutely everybody, including the security, The Revival, Ziggler, and finally hitting Corbin with a Superman Punch! Roman grabs the king’s scepter and the dog food as he goes over to Corbin. Ziggler with a superkick!

Ziggler then takes up a ladder as the Revival holds Reigns down onto a table! Ziggler goes up top! E makes the save though, taking the Revival out, Roman climbs the ladder and goozles Ziggler! Crowd is on their feet as Roman chokeslams him right off the ladder through the table!

Corbin watches on in terror from the ramp as Roman frees Kofi!

I’m a hardcore wrestling fan, by which I mean I’m a hardcore fan of wrestling... but I also have nothing against hardcore wrestling! I’ve been watching since 2006, back when I was 12 years old. In that time I’ve fervently followed WWE, TNA, ROH, Lucha Underground and others. Today I’m most passionate about NXT, New Japan and especially AEW! You could call me a modern wrestling savant but I know my old school stuff as well... I’ll be your huckleberry all night long.
