Times are changing in WWE, and talent who were once prominent on TV has begun to move away from our screens. Amongst this crowd is everyone’s favorite giant, The Big Show. You wouldn’t have seen him on WWE TV at all this year, because he wasn’t around. Being down with lagging injuries will do that, and it makes you wonder if we might have seen the last of The Big Show as far as in ring action goes.
Potentially His Final Feuds
In 2017, Big Show did all he could to make new resident monster Braun Strowman look incredible in a series of matches on RAW. We saw Big Show and Braun give some of their best performances, and Big Show displayed uncanny agility and wrestling ability in these matches. Braun eventually won out. Those matches were essentially a passing of the torch from Big Show to Braun Strowman, who is the companies new premiere big guy.
We then saw Big Show pop up again in 2018 where he aligned himself with The Bar to face The New Day. This partnership was shortlived as Big Show was working injured, and could barely move in the matches. The New Day & Bar did their best to hide this fact, but it was far from the best run of his career.
Rebuilding The Big Show
WWE ran an excellent documentary on The Big Show and his recovery from injury, which delved into his overall condition which seems positive for atleast one more match in 2020. Someone like Big Show deserves a proper big send off, much like the one Kurt Angle got, not a quiet retirement like Mark Henry or Christian. He is a multi-time world champion and man who has been a near-constant presence in wrestling for decades.
There are a few good people who could retire Big Show at Wrestlemania. One is of course Braun Strowman, who has incredible chemistry with Big Show. You could also give the honor to Erick Rowan, who needs more establishing as a monster than Braun does and knocking off Big Show would do that for him. A final option is NXT’s fastest rising star in Keith Lee, who has potential to be one of the biggest stars WWE could have in the coming decade.
