Jordan Huie of the Overtimer here and we have another episode of Monday Night Raw on tap here tonight! I’ll be here as always to give you the live recap and results from the show as they come! And tonight, AJ Styles and Randy Orton will write another chapter in their ongoing rivalry!
This is the second Raw of the year, and for the most part, we’re all still reeling from that Lana/Lashley wedding for better or worse… but that’s far from the only thing on tap. We have another appearance from Brock Lesnar being advertised, where we’ll hopefully get some clarification on what it really means for him to be #1 in this year’s men’s Royal Rumble match! And that’s in addition to an inordinate amount of matches announced in advance for tonight! So let’s take a look at them, one by one, whilst we still have the time! Raw is about ten minutes away as of this writing so I gotta get the lead out!
AJ Styles vs. Randy Orton
This feud initially began with Orton costing AJ Styles the United States title. He became embroiled in the OC’s efforts to establish dominance over the brand and ended up helping Rey Mysterio wrest the red, white and blue belt away from the Phenomenal One. Later, he even helped Rey retain against AJ! In retaliation, AJ injured Orton’s knee and repeatedly targeted it afterwards. Orton ended up using this to his advantage, feigning that the injury had become increasingly serious to the point that he came out on crutches on Raw. He pretended that he was about to be forced into retirement, goading AJ to come out and mock him, only for him to drop the ruse and take AJ down with an RKO.
Thus, we have another match between the two set here. Whether this is the blowoff or not is hard to say, but I’m gonna say that AJ takes the win, as Orton has gotten one over on him many a time in the past here.
