Good morning everyone. CBS The Young and the Restless Spoilers here with an update we’re all going to love.
Looks like we’re going to continue seeing our favorite show for four more years as The Young and the Restless has been renewed for four more years. Yep, the number one soap opera is going to be around at least until 2024.
The news and history
Kelly Kahl, CBS Entertainment President, announced the news of having Y&R thought 2024:
“Having the #1 show for any length of time in any daypart is a tremendous accomplishment. But The Young and the Restless has been daytime’s top drama for over three decades. The last time any other show was on top, Ronald Reagan was president, and the Berlin Wall was still standing. It’s a remarkable achievement and a testament to the extraordinary cast, gifted writers, talented producers and supremely passionate fans, as well as our tremendous partnership with Sony Pictures Television.”
Talk about an impressive run. With any luck, it won’t stop any time soon. Just thinking back over the history Y&R has seen during its run is mindboggling, but in a good way, and only adds to our enjoyment as we watch new shows, knowing where it’s been and where it’s going. This adds a whole new weight for new viewers and old alike as it unifies us through our enjoyment and appreciation. This is just one of the things that makes it fun for us at CBS The Young and the Restless Spoilers to share our thoughts and updates with everyone.
Imagine the possibilities
Steve Kent, Senior Executive Vice President of Programming, Sony Pictures Television said:
“We are thrilled to continue the legacy of The Young and the Restless at CBS, as this renewal will take us to our 50th anniversary in 2023, and beyond. The iconic characters created by William J. Bell and Lee Philip Bell 47 years ago continue to captivate audiences in the U.S. and across the globe, and we look forward to building on the dynamic storylines featuring these beloved characters.”
Broadcasting new episodes to and through a show’s 50th anniversary is a feat that’s rarely matched and is definitely something to be proud of. This brings to mind the possibilities we may see in the next few years as they may pay tribute with their older episodes and actors that have made The Young and the Restless the top soap opera for years, and hopefully for more years to come. It’ll also add a great deal of weight to their legacy while anchoring them in the present. Quite the accomplishment.
It’s something we’ve seen other shows like Days of our Lives do, so it only adds to the anticipation of what’s to come for us. The best part for us, is CBS The Young and the Restless Spoilers will continue to cover our favorite show and share our thoughts with you as we continue moving forward.
