WWE Monday Night Raw is tonight folks and oh my God Edge is back you guys. Did-did you hear?! It’s incredible! I mean yeah, I covered it live as it happened last night and everything but it’s still a little difficult to comprehend. Sure, I heard the rumors like everyone else but I just couldn’t possibly get my hopes up, I really didn’t buy in at all. Anyway, I’m Jordan Huie, you’re here with us at the Overtimer, here to give you the previews of what to expect tonight, and live coverage of the show as always and my God, I can’t believe Edge is back!
Edge Returns To Monday Night Raw Tonight
Now usually, I will try to be as professional as I can manage, but there’s really just no pretending with this here. I gotta be genuine, I just can’t suppress what a big deal this is to me. I mean, I started watching wrestling back in 2006, right? Probably says that on my bio. Specifically, I came in during the summer of ’06, right in the midst of the burgeoning, pretty damn awesome Edge/Cena feud. That was, in essence, the first rivalry I’d ever seen. And they had their blowoff match at Unforgiven, the first PPV I ever actually bought and watched as it was happening in my life. And that TLC match happened to also be the first truly great match that I’d ever seen.
All this before I ever came to find that he was also the favorite wrestler of my eventual girlfriend growing up, and seeing that return with her was about as special a moment as a fan can have. Just… damn, man. That alone really, really put that whole Rumble match on a different level for me, you just can’t script what’s gone down here. The guy was done beyond done, forced out of the business.
And not only did he come back, but he didn’t do it in some easy, gimmicky way either. He was in that match for 25 minutes and took every bump and hard hitting shot he could. He’s all the way cleared. And that’s utterly fantastic news.
What does he have in store tonight?
It’s gonna be emotional just having him there this evening. Who knows what he’s going to do now? He serves as a monkey wrench thrown into the 2020 Road to WrestleMania, one that it was probably begging for if we’re being honest. The possibilities are wide open now. Let’s see what the Rated R Superstar has in store for us next…
