Ladies and gentlemen, it is Wednesday night, always the best night of the week if you ask me, purely because it means another edition of the modern day wrestling wars! AEW Dynamite and WWE NXT are once again set to grace us with their presence, and I could not be more excited! After all, tonight… I’m going to be there at AEW Dynamite live! Yes, they’ll be emanating from Southaven, Mississippi, which is like a half hour drive from my house, I would’ve been crazy to pass that up! It’s a special show too, billed as the AEW Anniversary, as it’s a year out from the inaugural Double Or Nothing rally, which was technically the first AEW-sponsored event of any kind!
My watching from the stands means that I’m unable to do the usual recap but I’ll still be giving you the previews as usual, and the results later tonight!
And now, for our first match…
Hangman Page & Kenny Omega vs. Private Party
This is an interesting one to be sure! Not only is it destined to be a really fun match, but it also has a fair bit of story to it. For starters, Hangman Page has been relentlessly teasing a future feud against his former Elite-mates. For their part, they seem somewhat in denial about Page leaving the group, still wanting him to celebrate with them and, well, continually booking him in tag matches with Kenny like this! Don’t get it twisted, Hangman has very much left the stable, much as they obviously want him to stay.
Page has also been building issues with Private Party for a good while, primarily on BTE where they began an angle that’s since crossed onto Dynamite, where Page is starting to become a bit of an alcoholic, in spite of Kassidy and Quen’s attempts to set him straight. He’s responded pretty aggressively to these efforts though, clearly not much caring for their concern.
There’s a lot to look for here but I think with all this volatility, the odds of a win are slim for Kenny and Hangman. Private Party over.
