The 2020 iteration of the Royal Rumble concluded just last night, and as always, it was a pretty unforgettable occasion. Tonight we get all the fallout, plus our clearest look yet at how WrestleMania 36 is gonna shape up. We also have a feud coming to a head in the form of Liv Morgan vs. Lana but, in spite of that, I’d suggest tuning in… or atleast coming up with the show online~! I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer and I’ll be here with you all night as usual to give you the live coverage of the show. Not to mention previews! And after a night like what just transpired, we have plenty to talk about about tonight on WWE Monday Night Raw! So let’s get into it!
Lana vs. Liv Morgan
Anyone who has been keeping up with WWE at all over the past couple of months had to know this day was coming. Eventually, Lana, a woman who, to this day I still feel can be safely classed as a non-wrestler, would have to face off with Liv Morgan, a lady that for whatever reason WWE have refused to ever give even a shred of credibility on any given night, even now that she’s involved in what is meant to be one of Raw’s biggest storylines. This match is gonna happen and it will happen hard.
For those who somehow don’t know, Liv Morgan got herself involved in the long-running Lana/Lashley/Rusev saga during the heel pair’s attempt at a live wedding. Liv claimed that she and Lana were former lovers, but she had apparently been betrayed by her at some point.
The ins and outs of this, so to speak, have never really been discussed.
I mean, what even happened that drove a wedge between them? Obviously it wasn’t the fact that Lana had a boyfriend. I mean she’s been in a very public relationship with Rusev for years, so it’s not like Liv’s mad that she was cheating on her, nor did she seem to mind being a mistress. There’s a lot left unsaid here obviously. You can chalk that up to lazy writing or just wanting to keep a bit of mystique to things. (It’s definitely the former.)
Anyway the men involved in this angle are both barred from ringside, which will assuredly mean a totally squeaky clean match, right?! Probably not. And it probably won’t happen, but I think I’ll try to will Liv Morgan into taking this match by predicting it so anyway. ‘Cause hot damn, does she need every bit of help she can get to feel like she matters.
