I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer, here to give you the live coverage of the event as it happens, plus dish out previews of everything you can expect to see here tonight! There’s definitely more to talk about than usual so let’s get into it!
WWE Raw Tag Team Championships: Seth Rollins & Buddy Murphy (c) vs. Samoa Joe & Kevin Owens
Seth Rollins and his cult followers, Buddy Murphy and AOP have been running roughshod over Monday Night Raw for the last little while. This was perhaps never better exemplified than last week, when the reigning tag team champions of the brand, Erik & Ivar of the Viking Raiders tried coming to the aid of Kevin Owens and Samoa Joe, backing up the top babyfaces in their quest against Rollins and company. They even agreed to put their titles on the line against Rollins and Murphy to try and combat them.
But for their troubles, they lost their gold. In a fairly unexpected move, Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy have become our new WWE Raw Tag Team Champions. They attempted to take that momentum into the Royal Rumble match in a big way. Rollins got the luck of the draw of getting to go into the match last, having drawn the coveted #30 spot. And he didn’t come alone, as Akam, Rezar and Murphy all came in there with him.
The faction tried to make use of the lack of rules in a Rumble match, with Rollins’ cronies interfering on his behalf. That worked out pretty well, as they did manage to take out Owens & Joe, as well as Murphy’s own personal rival Aleister Black. But when Joe, Owens and Black banded together to run off Seth’s henchmen, he found himself on his own in a ring full of people that hated him. That didn’t go so well for him after that.
Joe and Owens’ war with Rollins faction continues tonight, as they challenge for the tag titles.
This should be a pretty fun match but it’s impossible to not expect some shenanigans. Rollins and Murphy over, no way they’re dropping the titles after a week.
