This past episode of NXT opened with Rhea Ripley and a crew of women ready to take the fight directly to her. Rhea agreed to fight old rival Toni Storm at Worlds Collide, but many more want a shot at her now that she holds the NXT Womens Championship. NXT UK Women’s Champion Kay Lee Ray, Bianca Belair, Io Shirai and even her friend Candice LeRae staked their claim to a title opportunity. To help decide the next challenger, NXT has set up a huge battle royal for next week, with top contenders and underdogs alike.
Who Will Be In The Battle Royal?
The Battle Royal will include Bianca Belair, Candice LeRae, Chelsea Green, Dakota Kai, Vanessa Borne, Kayden Carter, Mia Yim, Santana Garrett, Io Shirai, Shotzi Blackheart and Xia Li. It is a very good mix of top talent and people trying to prove themselves. With a good bit of time between now and NXT Takeover: Portland, we could see an upset from someone like Xia Li or Shotzi Blackheart. Give them a title match on TV ahead of the next big takeover, and save a match like Io Shirai vs. Rhea Ripley for the big stage. Battle Royals are always nice and unpredictable, so this should be an exciting match.
Could Tegan Nox Be A Factor?
This could be an excellent opportunity to set up a fair few storylines in the womens divison, and advance current stories. Notable by her absence is Tegan Nox, meaning we very well could see her re-emerge to eliminate her old partner Dakota Kai. This would be a great time to bring this storyline back to the forefront, as it could very well be the most heated storyline in the womens division across all brands in 2020. It would also be satisfying to see every other woman in the match just instantly gang up and throw Dakota Kai out of the ring, as she has bad blood with a fair few of the people involved in the match.
