It is set to be another huge week of action for the Black and Gold brand of NXT. We will see the semi-finals of the 2020 Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic, a North American Championship match, and action from the NXT Womens Division.
Io Shirai vs. Toni Storm
The NXT Womens Division could very well be the best in the world today. They are stacked with talent, and two of their best in Toni Storm & Io Shirai will showcase this on tonights episode. While Bianca Belair is the number one contender for Rhea Ripley at NXT Takeover Portland, Toni Storm gets a shot at Worlds Collide. A win tonight would be a great way to build her momenteum for that coming title match. We also saw Shotzi Blackheart eliminate Shayna Baszler last week from the battle royal. That match is expected to happen tonight as well.
Keith Lee vs. Roderick Strong
Ever since Keith Lee helped defeat Undisputed Era at NXT Takeover WarGames, he has been a massive thorn in their sides. He is the biggest threat to their iron grip on every championship in NXT. Undisuputed Era attempted to take him out of action last week with a chair around his ankle, but they failed. He will be vicious, but will have to make sure not to get disqualified. Roderick Strong is a crafty and well traveled opponent, so he could use Lee’s rage to his advantage. It will be interesting to see how this match pans out, but hopefully we will be basking in the glory of a new champion.
Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic Semi-Finals Action
We will see both semi-final matches for this years Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic on tonights episode, with Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne (known as The Broserweights) taking on Marcel Barthel & Fabian Aichner of Imperium. We will also see The Grizzled Young Veterans (James Drake & Zack Gibson) take on Kyle O’Reilly & Bobby Fish of Undisputed Era. Both should be fantastic matches, and while it’s unclear when the finals will take place, the logical place would be this Saturday at Worlds Collide. Since Imperium is set to take on Undisputed Era in an 8 man tag, I would guess Broserweights & Grizzled Young Veterans will be our final match of the tournament, but we will have to wait and see.
