Heya everybody! It’s Friday Night and that means another edition of Friday Night SmackDown is on the horizon! I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer and I’m here to give you the previews of tonight’s action! As usual there’s not too much announced in advance but no reason not to look into what has been put out there. There’s barely ten minutes left before the show starts as I type this so let’s get a move on!
This is the first SmackDown of the year and given that NXT effectively took January 1st off, it’s really the first WWE event of the year as well. And we seem to have our main event for it set in advance for a change.
Daniel Bryan & Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin & Dolph Ziggler
Daniel Bryan is of course the new No. 1 Contender for the WWE Universal Championship. He’ll be challenging “The Fiend” Bray Wyatt for the title at the WWE Royal Rumble in a few weeks. In the meantime, he has this big tag match on his plate.
Roman Reigns and King Corbin have been feuding for months now, dating back to the build for Survivor Series. In essence, this has been happening ever since SmackDown made the move to FOX and has defined the early days on the new network for better or worse. The dogfood* riddled angle takes another step forward tonight in this tag match. Dolph Ziggler is one of Corbin’s most loyal of henchmen, following him around for little reason other than because he wears a crown on his head.
Both Reigns and Bryan could use some momentum, so take your pick on who gets the win. All I can say for sure is that Dolph Ziggler will be taking the loss.
*They’ve begun advertising Roman Reigns vs. King Corbin matches on live events with a Loser Eats Dogfood stipulation. Expect to see this on TV soon should they be pleased with the results.
