It has been many years since Charlotte Flair has wrestled a match on the Black & Gold Brand. Having been a fixture of the women’s divisions on both RAW & Smackdown, she hasn’t had much reason to come down to NXT and prove she can still hang with the talent there. That was until she won the 2020 Royal Rumble. This gave her a chance to choose her champion to face for Wrestlemania, and one option was the only woman out of the bunch she has never beaten. This is Rhea Ripley, who was her choice in the end.
Despite the storyline focusing on Rhea & Charlotte, one other person has been well involved in how it has played out. This is Bianca Belair, who failed to win the NXT Women’s Championship at NXT Takeover Portland. Despite that loss, fans have been wanting to see her get involved at Wrestlemania and have the match become a triple threat. She had a chance to make that a reality, as she would face Charlotte Flair.
Charlotte defeats Bianca Belair
With this being the return of Charlotte to action in NXT, the crowd was very fired up for this match. They were supporting their own however, with them being firmly behind Belair. This helped to make Belair feel like the equal to Flair, despite a major gap in experience, star power, and skill. Charlotte would dominate the bulk of the match, with Belair getting glimpses of offense throughout the match, slowing making it a back and forth contest. Belair would get a near fall on Charlotte with a handspring moonsault. As the match raged on past the typical end time of NXT, Belair would nail a big spear on Charlotte, only for Charlotte to get back up and hit an even bigger spear to defeat Belair.
Rhea Ripley Saves Belair From Further Damage
Seeing as the crowd wasn’t fond of her anyways, Charlotte found no reason to not try and take Belair out of the equation fully. She would grab a steel chair with bad intentions in mind, but we would not get to see what her plan was. Rhea Ripley would interrupt, and the show would fade to black before they could clash.
