As far as undercard acts go in WWE, there are few more consistently entertaining than Elias. The traveling troubadour has been in WWE for many years now, and really caught steam since he was able to make his way to RAW & Smackdown. The gimmick of a musician is a time tested one, and one man who did before is Jeff Jarrett, who thinks Elias is a huge star in the making.
“He’s Got A Huge Upside”
Speaking to Metro.co.uk, he said the following about Elias. ‘He’s got a huge upside. His injury last year was unfortunate, because he was really starting to get on a roll. He’s got something that you can’t teach, that you can’t coach, that you can’t manufacture. Elias got a unique set of skills. He’s got an aura about him, a charisma about him that’s very unique. The fact that he can play, and sing, and wrestle, and write music, and tie it all together – it makes him a very entertaining character.’
As far as character work goes, Elias is second to none in WWE. Once the bell rings, he is a very solid brawler, but a bit unremarkable. When WWE finds a way to flesh out his skill set, he will very easily be one of their top stars. He connects with audience members like few others can, be that as a heel or a face.
What Is Elias Currently Doing?
Since he returned from injury, he has been rather understated on Smackdown. He was Number 2 in the Royal Rumble, and the first of Brock Lesnars 13 eliminations from the match. He might not find a major role at Wrestlemania However we usually see different people get chances to shine in the block between Wrestlemania & Summerslam.
Something like winning Money in the Bank would be perfect on Elias in the Spring, with a special guitar case to carry his contract in. WWE signed him to a new multiyear contract, so it wouldn’t be a shock to see him get a more prominent role.
