Tonight is the night. We’re but hours away from All Elite Wrestling’s first PPV of the decade, a major card to be sure, AEW Revolution! In one of the most unique matches on the card, PAC takes on Orange Cassidy, who is making his singles debut in AEW! Orange Cassidy vs. PAC
A lot of matches on this card have months long builds to them. In some cases, we have matches that have been in the making since AEW’s first show back in May. And then, you have this… a match that basically came out of nowhere a few days ago on Wednesday. This past episode of Dynamite, PAC was being interviewed after his loss to Kenny Omega in the 30-minute Ironman match. That’s when Orange Cassidy somewhat randomly appeared before him, as he does. PAC was not happy with his hands-in-the-pockets mockery so he laid him out with a forearm.
Later that night, after helping the Best Friends, Trent Baretta and Chuck Taylor deal with the Butcher, the Blade and the Bunny, it was announced that Cassidy would face PAC at AEW Revolution. Simple as that. It’s actually kinda fitting really, that it’d be done so casually as this was. It’s about how Cassidy would book a feud.
Cassidy gets flak from those who don’t like gimmicks in wrestling, but what can’t be denied is that he is wildly over to the AEW audience. The announcement legitimately got one of the biggest reactions of the night. Not to mention a super fun “Please Don’t Try” chant on top of it. It’s impossible for me to think this match will be anything other than bizarrely hot. If you think about it, we have been waiting for it for quite some time. And every indication from people who have seen/worked in an actual Cassidy match is that he’s a very good worker when he gets the chance to show it. I am not sleeping on this one. PAC over though, of course.
