Everybody loves Mondays! After all, it’s the day defined by Monday Night Raw. Tonight, Randy Orton will explain his actions after his heinous one man conchairto to Edge last week. My name is Jordan Huie, you are visiting us here at the Overtimer and this evening, I’ll be sure to give you the same coverage you’ve come to expect. That means a live recap and results from the show as it occurs, plus previews of everything that’s been announced so far! Which as per usual isn’t too much, but I’ll be glad to get into what’s there all the same. Starting off the show…
Randy Orton Will Explain His Actions From Last Week
Odds are pretty good you’ve heard about how Raw ended last week, if you didn’t actually see it yourself. It was kind of chilling, honestly. Edge made his long-awaited return to Raw at the end of the show, after shocking the world with his sudden comeback in the Royal Rumble the night before. But as he spoke to the audience, out came Randy Orton to welcome him back.
Orton spoke of how the two of them were close, insinuating that he was among the very, very few that he could ever call a friend. Randy even teased bringing back Rated RKO… before abruptly dropping Edge with the move that team was named after. It was already a big pretty moment at that point, swiftly crystalizing where we go from there, but it was far from over. After this, Orton slipped out to grab a chair and smacked it across the back of Edge, a man who just came back from a severe injury that forced his retirement nine years ago, an injury that nobody ever thought he’d be able to come back from.
And then, came the terror…
Everyone knew that Edge’s issues related to his neck and spine. So it was starkly on the minds of everyone watching when Orton wrapped a chair around his throat. Randy went up to the second rope… verrry slowly, teasing a Pillmanization that would surely snap that neck. Usually, Orton’s methodical ways don’t really work the way he wants in terms of crowd reactions, but here, he was the perfect guy for the job. Nobody would’ve milked this as much as he did, and it was a great time for it.
The response was loud, but far from your usual excited crowd. It was repeated shrieks of horror, a crowd stunned, many shots of people praying for Edge’s safety, fearing for his life and livelihood. The emotion was immense, before it was then put into overdrive. Orton slinked to the mat and took the chair away from Edge, as though he had second thoughts, before retrieving a second chair. And then, he administered to the Rated R Superstar the first One Man Conchairto that I’ve seen since the man himself retired.
It was an incredible angle to be sure. So… what do we follow it up with? Well, odds are sadly good that it’s business as usual. Randy will probably just tell us that he doesn’t have to explain himself and leave. That’s the traditional thing to do in this scenario anyway. But hey, it’s gonna take a lot more than that to kill his heat.
