The February 5th marquee Road to the New Beginning in Osaka event saw the Los Ingobernables de Japon (LIJ) team of IWGP Heavyweight and Intercontinental ‘Double Champion’ Tetsuya Naito, IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi, Sanada, and one-third of the NEVER Openweight 6 Man Tag Team Champions Bushi against the Bullet Club team of Jay White, KENTA, Taiji Ishimori, and El Phantasmo.
Throughout the match, Phantasmo and Ishimori showed impressive creativity and athleticism to avoid elimination, only to be eliminated directly after due to over celebration. Jay White and Sanada continued their build towards The New Beginning in Osaka on February 9th, the same for Naito and KENTA.
KENTA would eventually eliminate Naito at the 24 minutes 12-second mark to take how the victory for his Bullet Club team.

KENTA would then go on to address the crowd, antagonizing and mocking him — promising that he would take the ‘Double Championship’ from Naito on February 9th in Osaka. KENTA would continue his narrative address in the back, uniquely critiquing Naito, the fans, and all of his detractors.

The Road to the New Beginning in Osaka has done a great job of building intrigue in the February 9th event and the months to follow in New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW). The tour finale event is likely to draw a house of 12,000 to 12,200 fans in Osaka — resulting in smashing short-term success to payoff KENTA attacking Naito after his night-two Wrestle Kingdom 14 ‘Double Championship’ victory.
In a short period, KENTA has become one of the most compelling heels in wrestling complimenting Bullet Club’s return to their pure heel roots.
