Yessir, I’mma trying to kick this one up again… after an absence, tonight we’ll be covering All Elite Wrestling’s secondary show, AEW Dark! The Hybrid-2, Jack Evans and Angelico take on the Best Friends, Trent Baretta and Chuck Taylor in what’s sure to be a fine tag team match! I’m Jordan Huie of the Overtimer and I’ll be giving you the same kind of coverage you can expect from any show, meaning the results, the recaps and of course the previews for everything you can expect to see! The show is premiering on YouTube as I type this and I’ll be covering the aftermath very soon after! So let’s look at what’s on tap.
The Hybrid-2 (Jack Evans & Angelico) vs. The Best Friends (Trent Baretta & Chuck Taylor) w/ Orange Cassidy
Pretty much since the beginning, the likes of Jack Evans and Angelico have told anyone who would listen how underrated they are and how deserving of more opportunities they are, it’s kinda been their gimmick since day one. Partially because it is based in some truth, the two of them are certainly spectacular talents, uniquely gifted high fliers with some of the flashier offense you see. Though it has to be said that they don’t tend to put it together in quite as nice a bow as the Young Bucks or Lucha Bros., nor they do they come up with spectacular tag moves as adeptly as Private Party.
Still, they’re always a fun act to watch in their own right, and if anything just serve as proof of how deep the division really is. The Best Friends are also case-in-point. They’re similarly skilled and also lowkey one of the most over acts in AEW. Admittedly a lot of that has to do with Orange Cassidy who is usually something of a non-combatant, but people really take to Trent and Chuckie T as well.
I’ve always talked about how I’m a big fan of tag team wrestling and how psyched I am that AEW’s tag division is what it is. So it should likely come to no surprise that to me, this is is the match I’m most excited for tonight, I’d be kinda shocked if anything else on Dark topped it. As for who wins, I’ve gotta think the Best Friends stay strong. The Hybrid-2 could use a few weeks of easy squash matches to help get that momentum going.
