On this past weeks edition of Monday Night RAW, Matt Hardy would confront Randy Orton. This was about his vicious attack on Edge two weeks ago. While at one point in their careers Edge and Matt Hardy were bitter rivals, they’ve mainly been best friends. They made history together in helping go innovate new ways to cause destruction with Tables, Ladders, and Chairs and made wrestling better for it.
The Same Beatdown As Edge
It makes sense that Hardy would stand up for his old friend. He would get the same beatdown from Randy Orton. After cutting a passionate promo, things would come to blows, only for Hardy to take an RKO. Orton would then grab two chairs, and deliver a one man con-chairto to Hardy.
Afterwards during the commerical break, he would get a standing ovation from the crowd as he would seemingly say goodbye. With Hardys WWE contract coming to a close, and him expected to not resign with the company. Creative frustrations with the mishandling of his ‘Broken Matt Hardy’ gimmick is just one reason he will be looking to leave the company.
Will Matt Hardy Be All Elite?
One thing people have been speculating is that Matt Hardy will join All Elite Wrestling as The Exalted One of The Dark Order. He has proven to be an expert of character work, and while his Broken character is not as serious as what The Dark Order needs, he’s very adaptable.
This would also give him a non-wrestling role, which is needed at this point. While he can still wrestle, years of injury due to his daredevil style has taken a heavy toll on his body. Him being able to take a role as a manager would just give fans more years of Matt Hardy and his brilliance.
In WWE, he would have likely settled into a backstage role, as unless you’re a beautiful lady or Paul Heyman, you’re probably not getting much time as a manager on RAW or Smackdown. This is obvious by WWE taking Lio Rush from Lashley, or scrapping EC3 & Drake Maverick before it even hit TV.
