Last month at the Royal Rumble, Charlotte Flair claimed victory in the women’s edition of the legendary matchup. With the right to pick a champion of her choice for a match at Wrestlemania, she was given three options. She could face Smackdown Women’s Champion Bayley, RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch, or NXT Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley. Becky & Bayley are two people Charlotte knows she is able to defeat, but Rhea Ripley is someone she has never faced one on one. Rhea came knocking on this past episode of Monday Night RAW, but Charlotte didn’t have much to say. She would arrive in Full Sail University to address Rhea Ripley.
Charlotte Flair Interrupts Bianca Belair
In what was supposed to be an encounter between Rhea Ripley and her challenger at NXT Takeover Portland, Charlotte Flair would come out to steal the spotlight from Belair before Ripley even made it to the ring. She would get a great reaction, as it isn’t everyday you see a 10 time women’s champion in NXT. She is a former holder of the NXT Women’s Championship, and is a completely different performer at this stage of the game.
Belair and Flair would be quickly joined by Ripley. Ripley told Flair to say why she came here. Belair got between them to tell Flair that “you don’t even go here.” Belair then scoffed at Ripley thinking she was going to run through her at NXT Takeover Portland. Belair turned to Flair and said she would face Flair at WrestleMania, and that she doesn’t need to worry about Ripley. Flair would respond to this by saying this was a conversation for champions. She told Belair to stand aside and leave the ring. Ripley took up for Belair by warning Flair about coming in to their house disrespecting them.
The NXT Women would lay out Charlotte in a rare moment of partnership, and send her on her way. We still have no idea who Charlotte will face at Wrestlemania, so expect her on Smackdown this Friday to tease a match with Bayley. She will have to pick before long, but WWE seems keen on dragging it out as long as possible.
