Last week, Tomassao Ciampa was named the number one contender for Adam Cole and NXT Championship. He laid out all of Undisputed Era, and put Adam Cole through a table as he made it clear that he wasn’t going to leave NXT Takeover Portland without the NXT Championship around his waist.
On the same night, Matt Riddle & Pete Dunne would earn their shot at the NXT Tag Team Championships by winning the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic. After a wild brawl midway through the show, the main event of NXT was set for the night. It would be challengers vs. champions.
Match Ends In DQ
After a wild and action filled match, the numbers advantage of Undisputed Era would come into play when Roderick Strong would get involved to save Adam Cole from being finished off by Tomassao Ciampa. This would escalate into another wild brawl, with Undisputed Era having the upper hand. They would remove Riddle & Dunne from the picture and focus in on Ciampa. He would be beaten down, and humiliated as they spray painted a target on his back as Adam Cole prepared to take him out with The Last Shot.
Velveteen Dream Returns And Takes The Fight To Undisputed Era
Just before Cole potentially took Ciampa out of the championship picture, the lights would go out. The screen would be filled with the orbs from the mysterious promo on last weeks episode. They would form into a triangle, which would make way for a picture of Velveteen Dream, who was perched on the top rope behind the Undisputed Era. He would dive off the top and take the fight to the entirity of The Undisputed Era. They had taken him out months prior, so he had a bone to pick with them as soon as he got back. He cleared the ring of everyone but Roderick Strong, who he would focus in on, as revenge for taking the NXT North American Championship from him back in October.
It instantly made everyone remember what was missing in NXT, and it’s clear that Undisputed Era made a powerful enemy all those months ago.
