AAA Rey de Reyes 2020 has been postponed. The company was running the show on Saturday, March 21 which had the participation of All Elite Wrestling’s Kenny Omega and the Ring of Honor World Champion, Rush.
As the Wrestling Observer reports: “Kenny Omega was to defend the AAA Mega Heavyweight Championship against Laredo Kid… This was scheduled to be Omega’s third defense of the Mega Heavyweight title since winning it from Fenix in October.” As we have reported in the past, Omega’s reign has been a breath of fresh air to the AAA Mega Championship. In the past, the previous title holders, Dr. Wagner Jr., Jeff Jarrett, and Rey Fenix fail to defend the AAA main title.
Another big match for the show was the following:
“…Michael Nakazawa, Dezmond Xavier, Zachary Wentz, Pentagon Jr., and Fenix, all based in the United States were to appear on the show. Omega was questionable because of his broken finger while at this time it would be difficult to ensure that the others would be able to come and return.”
The match that Wentz and Xavier were involved in was a AAA Tag Team Championship match. Obviously, challenging the Lucha Brother, Pentagon & Fenix. Other big matches that were scheduled for the AAA Rey de Reyes 2020were:
Drago and Drago Kid vs. La Parka Negra and La Parkita Negra
Pagano and La Familia Real (El Hijo de L.A. Park, and L.A. Park Jr.) vs. Los OGTs (Averno, Chessman, and Super Fly) vs. El Poder del Norte (Tito Santana, Carta Brava Jr., and Mocho Cota Jr.)
Jinetes del Aire (El Hijo del Vikingo, Octagón Jr., and Myzteziz Jr.) vs. Los Mercenarios (Texano Jr., Rey Escorpión, and La Hiedra) for the AAA Trios Championships.
Blue Demon Jr. vs. Aero Star vs. Michael Nakazawa vs. Mascarita Dorada vs. Mr. Iguana vs. Niño Hamburguesa vs. Dave The Clown vs. Arez vs. Dinastía vs. Villano III Jr.
Main event: Los Psycho Circus (Psycho Clown, Monster Clown, and Murder Clown) vs. La Facción Ingobernable (ROH World Champion Rush El Toro Blanco, L.A. Park, and La Bestia del Ring)
Another date for AAA Rey de Reyes has not been announced for now. But, if we follow the example of other big promotions as MLW, WWE, among others, the following date should be in the summer, probably in June of this year. AAA joins CMLL as the big Latin American promotions to suspend operations until the pandemic of Covid-19 that’s affecting many countries.
