WWE Monday Night Raw opens with a Lesnar/McIntyre video package. It’s the same as one they’ve done before, or perhaps fusing two previous ones together, good stuff though. As the show opens proper, Lesnar and Heyman are in the ring and holy crap they’re actually filming opposite from the stage now?! Heyman says, “Let’s be honest, we live in uncertain times right now. And at this time in history when we all need a little certainty in our lives, I give you that certainty in Brock Lesnar.” Amazing. Paul slowly explains that McIntyre can do whatever he wants, he can train his ass off, he can go to the gym and fight with mixed martial artists but Drew McIntyre cannot defeat Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania. Drops the tagline that this WrestleMania is too big for just one night.
Heyman says that Drew McIntyre can get on his hands and knees and pray but God’s prayer line is just gonna give him a busy signal right now.
All he can do is deliver the prayer to Lesnar to make things quick and painless, but after what he did to Brock at the Royal Rumble and in Brooklyn, Lesnar may make it quick but it will not be painless. Paul says after dropping Lesnar three times in Brooklyn, everyone thinks McIntyre is a made man, set for life. But after WrestleMania, he’s just gonna be another bitch that tried. Promises Lesnar will remain the reigning, defending, undisputed heavyweight champion of the world, then, now, forever.
Man, kinda stunned that they actually did learn a little bit, they seemed to be quite stubbornly resisting trying to adapt to this empty arena scenario. Even with the silence, that segment visually was a lot better than the norm. Granted they did still have the seats fully illuminated for whatever reason, but I gotta say, WWE’s stages look pretty cool from the front. They’d actually probably look really sweet with all the other lights around that area down, let the LED shine in the darkness.
We now cut to tonight’s archival bout. It’s actually the Seth Rollins/Brock Lesnar/John Cena Royal Rumble 2015 triple threat match. I’m not totally sure how that ties into anything going on right now, but it was a fantastic match so hey. I’d recommend you check it out if you haven’t seen.
