I can’t say I’d blame you at all for not realizing this… but WWE Elimination Chamber is on tonight! The pre-show is going on as I type this out! This evening we will be seeing a Tag Team Elimination Chamber match in which John Morrison and the Miz will be defending their tag team titles against a plethora of opponents! My name is Jordan Huie, you are here with us tonight at the Overtimer where we’ll be giving you live coverage of WWE Elimination Chamber! That means recaps and results from the show as they come, plus previews of everything you can expect! As I said, the Kickoff is rolling on as I speak so let’s get a move on!
WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship Elimination Chamber Match: The Miz & John Morrison (c) vs. Lucha House Party (Gran Metalik & Lince Dorado) vs. Heavy Machinery (Otis Dozovic & Tucker Knight) vs. Robert Roode & Dolph Ziggler vs. The New Day (Kofi Kingston & Big E) vs. The Usos (Jimmy & Jey Uso)
Man so that was a lot of names eh? Where to begin here… this is a match occurring because it’s a match that’s occurring. SmackDown does have a pretty deep tag division as this shows off, but there wasn’t exactly a huge bit of contention over who was next in line. Actually Miz & Morrison have already beaten all the top babyface teams on the brand, did so before they even became tag champion. That should actually translate to very few teams being in the running but instead it means all of them are.
All of them except the Revival… yeah. Lucha House Party made it into the match instead of them. This match kinda feels like it was made to spite them in some ways if I’m being honest. But regardless, we have a couple of main stories here. The Usos are seemingly the actually-next-team-in-line to face Miz & Morrison down the line, and that will probably be made more apparent here if it is the case. Meanwhile Otis Dozovic will be looking to get his hands on Dolph Ziggler, that will surely be a key story here. After all it was the entire story that was being told in the Gauntlet match last week.
I guess the question is, are we still looking towards a Miz & Morrison vs. Usos tag title match or do the belts swap to Roode & Ziggler so that Heavy Machinery can pursue into Mania? Wouldn’t be the worst idea on paper, but I mean John Morrison and the Miz did JUST win these titles. Could’ve just had New Day defending here instead if you were gonna go that route. I’m gonna say they retain tonight.
