Another empty arena Performance Center edition of WWE Friday Night SmackDown begins with Bayley and Sasha Banks opening the show. We get our first “Too big for just one night” line super early as they talk up WrestleMania as the big dream, but this year it’s a nightmare for them. Without saying anything about Dana Brooke they talk about the now five-way elimination match that awaits them. The match sees Bayley defend her WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship against Lacey Evans, Naomi, Tamina and Sasha Banks. They go on berating Paige for daring to put Sasha and Bayley in the same match to try and drive a wedge between them. Bayley says it’ll only backfire on them because they’ll stick together no matter what.
Sasha seems uncertain about this, and as she hesitates to respond, out comes Lacey Evans.
She says Bayley’s mouth is as big as her hat, she speaks so much Sasha Banks can barely get a word in edgewise. Sasha and Bayley mock her for losing to Bayley before. Next, out comes Naomi. She runs them down and says that WrestleMania is where you shine the brightest, so the glow will be felt on the grandest stage of them all once again. Bayley makes a crack about how this isn’t gonna be one of those segments where everyone interrupts one after another with their music hitting and they try and say something cool and this, of course, is interrupted by Tamina who comes out to music I’m not convinced I’ve ever heard before.
She walks into the ring and simply says, “Actions speak louder than words” before headbutting Naomi and kicking Lacey Evans. Sasha Banks and Bayley dart out of the ring to avoid taking any similar such abuse. Tamina stands tall in the ring, grimacing as she glares at the heels who back up the ramp, Bayley holding her title aloft.
It really does say something about how short-handed they really are that they felt the need to bring back Tamina. For whatever reason they really had their hearts set on having a ton of people involved in this SmackDown Women’s title match and Alexa and Nikki already had a plan set for them. Since she’s been gone forever they naturally had to make look strong here I suppose, otherwise it’d be even weirder that she’s in the match.
