WE Elimination Chamber’s Kickoff Show is well under way. We are currently about to get to our first match of the night and the one bout of the pre-show. The Viking Raiders, Erik and Ivar take on Curt Hawkins and Zack Ryder.
The Viking Raiders (Erik & Ivar) vs. Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder
Ryder shoots Erik off on a side headlock but gets taken down with a shoulder block. Smack to the face sends Ryder to his corner, Hawkins tags in. Lock-up, shoots Erik off and gets a shoulder block of his own. Leapfrogs him, hits the ropes and just gets rammed to the mat with another shoulder block. Ryder distracts Erik, Hawkins gets him with a running high knee to the face. Back Suplex for a count of 1. Drags him to the corner, Zack tags in, lays in forearms. Swinging Neckbreaker for a 2 count. Ryder hooks in a chinlock. Erik fights to his feet, but gets sent to the floor. Hawkins off the apron with a flying clothesline!
Stupid Pointless Pre-Show Commercial Break commences with the match continuing in the inset, ensuring that you dont’ get a good look at the suplex onto the floor that Hawkins just delivered to Erik. He’s then pulled back into the ring where Ryder tags in and lays in punches. Quick tags and isolation ensues. We’re already back and Hawkins now has Erik down in a side headlock. Erik fights to his feet, gets Hawkins down with a big forearm but collapses. Simultags, Ivar is in quick, side slam to Ryder followed up with the flying low crossbody!
Ryder evades him in the corner but eats the Seated Senton, cartwheel avoids Hawkins, big lariato! Tag to Erik, Ryder gets the knees up on Ivar but gets popped-up into a Rough Ryder on his own partner! Viking Experience to Ryder follows and that is that.
Winners: The Viking Raiders
Welp, I said plenty of times in the preview that if this were anything other than a squash it would be a pretty bad idea. And having seen that tested, I still stand by that. This was a well-worked match but the Viking Raiders really, really needed to be running through these guys. NOBODY is going to see Hawkins and Ryder as having any kind of credibility any time soon and this was not the time to start.
