Bayley has become the longest reigning Smackdown Women’s Champion of all time. Her two reigns are both among the longest in the belts history, and with her new devious tactics it has become very hard for any one woman to beat her. This might finally come to bite her at Wrestlemania, as everyone she has wronged in recent months could meet her in the same match. WWE has reportedly decided that a six-pack challenge for the women of Smackdown will be the best way to have the title defended.
Who Will Be Involved In The Potential Wrestlemania Match?
Aside from Bayley herself, we would likely see Sasha Banks, Naomi, Lacey Evans, Carmella, and Dana Brooke be involved in this match. Naomi, Lacey & Carmella were the most common opponents over Bayley’s reign of terror over the division, making them easy picks for this match. Sasha Banks is the most interesting potential entrant, as she is currently a strong ally of Bayley. Despite this, her current character is all about the money so she would love to have the winners purse from a major Wrestlemania match. She is also far from someone who wouldn’t stab an ally in the back to get ahead.
Why Is WWE Waiting To Do Bayley vs. Sasha Banks?
Despite them being the two biggest stars in the brands division, WWE has avoided having them clash on a PPV. You would think that would be an ideal Wrestlemania match, but there is a much more logical spot this year to do this history drenched match. This Summer it will be five years since their historic clash at NXT Takeover Brooklyn, a match still held up as one of the best in the history of NXT. Summerslam will also be taking place in Boston, where Banks has been billed from throughout her WWE career. The combo of history and a hometown representative, means that Summerslam is arguably a better stage for this one on one showdown. It also doesn’t hurt that Summerslam doesn’t have the same amount of bloat as Wrestlemania, which limits the time undercard matches like this will actually get.
