Wrestling fans will often go their whole lives dreaming about matches that were never able to happen. These will often involve current wrestlers facing established legends from the past of the industry. While WWE can’t deliver these matches as fans would expect them, one route was always to do them with the WWE Video Games. WWE has realized this, and on Thursday, April 2nd they will be doing this officially using WWE 2k20 for everyone to enjoy.
What Matches Will WWE Stream?
While this format leaves hundreds of possibilities, a few have been announced. These include The Rock vs. Roman Reigns, John Cena vs. Hulk Hogan, Sasha Banks vs. Trish Stratus, Seth Rollins vs. Ric Flair, Charlotte Flair vs. Beth Phoenix & Goldberg vs. Big E. It’s unclear if WWE will be setting both sides to be controlled by the games AI, or have the players controlled by some of the best gamers within WWE like Xavier Woods, AJ Styles or Shelton Benjamin. While it would be fun to see the wrestlers controlled by themselves, I have doubts Hogan & Flair could play this game with their age. We will have commentary done by the stars of WWE, which makes this exciting in it’s own way. This is simply a creative idea for WWE, and a great way to keep fans entertained during the COVID-19 crisis.
Some Of These Matches Could Still Happen
While they are classed as dream matches, we could see matches like Sasha Banks vs. Trish Stratus, Goldberg vs. Big E, and The Rock vs. Roman Reigns in an actual WWE ring. While Trish had a retirement match of sorts at Summerslam 2019, her and Sasha would be a big Wrestlemania match, and WWE would be stupid to not still be trying to make The Rock vs. Roman Reigns happen for Wrestlemania in Hollywood next year. The least believable would be Goldberg vs. Big E, but how could they deprive fans of what they really want, just two grown men slapping meat in the ring. That is Big E’s personal dream match as noted on the New Day Podcast, with his dream match for the New Day being a cloned trio of Goldbergs. Will you be watching these simulations of dream matches?
