WrestleMania 36 begins. Our first match will see Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross challenge the Kabuki Warriors. Stephanie McMahon introducing us to the show and parlaying to a compilation of the many guest stars who have formerly opened the show with a performance of America the Beautiful. Then comes the intro which is still very much buccaneer themed in spite of the move to the Performance Center. But then someone cuts it off, telling them not to start at the end. Demands they back up. Now the trailer begins again. And is forced to reset again. They then basically give up the act to say it’s simply an adventure. They pretty much mess up their own gimmick for a laugh. This is one area they pretty much never get wrong but this one was pretty weird. And also pretty long for obvious reasons. And Roman’s all over it but that’s hardly a surprise.
Rob Gronkowski is here hosting with the actual Party Rock playing in the background. Welcomes us to the first-ever Night 1 of WrestleMania because this year WWE looked at everything it had planned and said nope, this party is too big for one night and they needed Gronk because he knows how to start a party on Saturday night and end it 30 hours later. Now he needs his good friend Mojo Rawley. Mojo appears and calls them the most hype superstars at Mania, demands Gronk give him some chops. Gronk says it’ll be high stakes and no breaks all night long and it all starts right now. This introduces our first match and okay I was not told JBL would be here, did we really need yet another tragedy? Well, good news is Asuka did make the show after all, that one was wrong atleast.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships: The Kabuki Warriors (c) vs. Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross
Alexa and Asuka begin. Asuka ducks a clothesline and cackles, tags out to Kairi. Sane shoves Alexa a few times, eventually shoves her to her backside and plays with her hair ties. Alexa slaps her across the face, ducks a shot, messes with her hair and trips her to the mat. Kneedrop to the gut, tag to Nikki Cross, basement dropkick for a 2 count. Kairi backs Nikki into the Kabuki corner, Asuka tags in, they stomp Nikki into the corner. Snapmare, kick to the back. Mocking kicks to the head. Cross fights back, Asuka shoves her away, Alexa blind tags in, Nikki sends Asuka to the outside. Nikki trips Kairi and clobbers her on the apron. Alexa with a baseball slide takes Kairi to the floor! To the apron. Senton plows through Asuka! Nikki on the apron as well, crossbody takes out Kairi!
Back into the ring, the faces pose for a bit. Eventually Alexa gets Asuka into the ring and covers her for 2. Asuka fights back, they both tag out, Kairi drags Nikki to the outside and gets her with some chops. Alexa and Asuka on the outside well, Asuka sends Alexa into the post, Kairi gets Cross with a barrier assisted headscissor. Kabuki Warriors cackle. Asuka tags back in and works over Nikki in the ring, isolation commences. Double team kicks, bulldog from Asuka, basement dropkick from Kairi! Cover for a 1 count. Hoists Nikki up, Cross with a sunset flip for 2. Crawls to the corner, kicks Kairi away, tag to Alexa! Series of clotheslines, blocks a shot, big smack, dropkick takes Kairi down! Alexa charges in the corner, Sane evades to the apron, Bliss with a forearm, Asuka comes up to help Kairi get the advantage, Bliss is hung in the Tree of Woe, Double Foot Stomp from Kairi Sane for a nearfall!
Pelts her with kicks, Sliding D! Pulls her out for a nearfall. Asuka tags in, grinds the boot into the throat. Asuka with a clothesline in the corner, wants a bulldog, Alexa tosses her away but she lands on her feet, nails a roundhouse kick for a narrow nearfall! Rams Alexa into the corner buckle. Charges for a hip attack, Alexa gets the knees up, ducks a spinning backfist, Asuka with a roundhouse kick and they both fall! Simultaneous tags, Nikki is a house of fire with a series of double axe handles, clothesline in the corner into a running bulldog! Rips her vest open, goes up top, crossbody for a nearfall! Kairi rakes the eyes as Asuka is distracting the ref. Kairi charges, Nikki takes Sane to the apron, hooks her for the hanging neckbreaker but Asuka had already blind-tagged in, palm strikes and spinning backfist avoided, Nikki with a neckbreaker, Kairi breaks it up with an Insane Elbow!
Asuka and Nikki fight their way up. Cross with a waistlock, O’Connor Roll, Asuka reverses into the Asukalock! Cinches it in tight… Alexa off the top with Twisted Bliss to break it up! Kairi nails Bliss with the Interceptor! Everyone is down now! Asuka nails a Codebeaker on Cross, Kairi goes up top but Cross pursues and fights her up there. Asuka with a sunset flip, pulls her off in Powerbomb position, Kairi with a flying forearm off the top rope as Asuka plants Nikki for the nearfall! Nice double team move! Asuka charges, Nikki avoids her and she ends up posted, Nikki gets Sane with the Spinning Neckbreaker, tag to Bliss! Twisted Bliss and that’s that.

They certainly worked hard. There was atleast one point in the match, the InSane Elbow, where it seemed like there was a noticeable cut, guessing the timing wasn’t so great on that pin breakup originally. But still, they did their damndest and I appreciate it, not a bad match at all.
