The NXT Women’s division is diverse and deeply talented, even down to the trainees that were brought in without wrestling experience. One of these is 24 year old Brazilian Taynara Conti, who has officially been released from WWE. With a black belt in Judo and a blue belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, she had the discipline to become a star, and the fighting experience to look very legitimate.
Signing with WWE in 2016, she would compete in the first ever Mae Young Classic, losing to Lacey Evans in the first round. Her most notable feud in NXT was with Xia Li, where she aimed to prove that Brazilians were better at martial arts than the Chinese. A story broke in early 2020 that she requested her release from WWE, before showing back up on live events. She has finally been released as part of WWE cost cutting due to COVID-19, and has now had her first post-WWE interview.
Taynara Conti Breaks Her Silence
She would release a video on Youtube in Portuguese, English & Spanish to ensure maximum understanding. Starting off, she happy, healthy and in high spirits. Her time within WWE was the best thing that’s ever happened to her. Prior to WWE she had no knowledge of what wrestling was even about and fell in love with the business. WWE was very supportive of her from day one and she’s very proud of representing Brazil in the span of three years. She would cite her Wrestlemania appearance where she was the first Brazilian to ever enter the ring at Wrestlemania, making history, as a major moment for her.
Conti confirmed she requested her release due to feeling she couldn’t do what she was set out to do despite asking for opportunities, but was denied due to her signing a new contract a few months prior. She did not expect to be released in the middle of a global pandemic, because you never expect to lose your job at the worst possible time. Conti ended by saying she will be remaining in professional wrestling, but she is unsure what will be next for her. She went from not knowing what wrestling even was, to growing a passion for it.
