No Way Jose has been making an impact since WWE released him, making his way into the news as he builds hype for a run outside of WWE. He has previously spoke on how he felt WWE held him back by dubbing him as ‘No Way Jose’ and doubling down on the conga-line gimmick once he hit the main roster. Watching back some of his work in NXT, the potential was there for something greater, but much like Adam Rose before him, he was doomed as a joke.
No More No Way Jose
However, now that he is no longer in WWE, he intends to do his best to distance himself from this. During an interview with Inside The Ropes, he had the following to say when it came to his established character in WWE.
“It’s tough not because now I have to either try to go back into that character or try to come up with something completely different. As good as the character was for me in terms of making a living, I don’t want to continue that character. I just feel like it did what it did and if people want to book me for that or whatever, it’s gonna be possibly one off or whatnot but I have so much more to show. I have a more serious side, I have an aggressive side.”
So while we could see a character akin to No Way Jose show up at a show like Joey Janelas Spring Break, we will be seeing a more serious side of Levis Valenzuela showing up. He is a legitimate heavyweight, and willl tower over others from the indy wrestling scene, which means he should be able to carve out a nice niche for himself. He previously wrestled as Manny Garcia for CWF Mid-Atlantic Wrestling, where he was a more serious competitor.
He Knew His Release Was Coming
On the day when around 40% of the employees for WWE had lost their jobs, WWE had sent out a video earlier in the day letting people know cuts were coming. At that time, Levis Valenzuela had a feeling he would be one of those people cut, due to his low standing in the company. A few hours later, he got the call and his WWE career was over.
Do you think a more serious approach will benefit him going forward, or will he revert back to his WWE character when he finds a new home? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
