WWE Monday Night Raw rolls on. Buddy Murphy takes on Rey Mysterio in the third and final MITB qualifier of the night!
Buddy Murphy vs. Rey Mysterio (Money In The Bank Qualifying Match)
Trade of hip tosses and headlock, some leg clips, Rey and Murphy kip up and stare down. Lock-up, Murphy wants an arm wringer. Shoulder breaker, taking Rey down to the mat with the arm wringer. Rey escapes, ducks a few back elbows, drop toe hold takes Murphy to the ropes! Wants the 619 but Murphy juuust avoids it! Rey tells him how close that was. Murphy wants a Pump Kick, Rey escapes into the ropes, Murphy with some cheap shots to the head and Rey has to roll out of the ring. He apparenty hurt his finger in that tie up. Murphy pursues and tosses Rey repeatedly into a few barriers before throwing him into the ring! Cover for a 2 count, stomp to the face. Arm Wringer Takedown, cover for a 1 count.
Working over that hand now, Rey rolls through, lucha arm drag takes Murphy to the floor, baseball slide dropkick! Hits the ropes, wants a Wheelbarrow but Buddy catches him, Rey escapes for a back elbow but Murphy nails him in the back of the head and takes him down against the ramp. A dramatic stomp to the hand against the diamond plate of the ramp has Rey howling in agony! Commercial break.
We come back to see Murphy controlling Rey on the outside. Slams that injured hand into the steps! Murphy goes up to the middle rope and bends waaaay down to pull Rey to the apron. He puts Rey’s hand against the ringpost and grinds his boot against it until Rey trips him and sends Murphy tumbling to the floor! Rey springs off the steps for a big hurricanrana sending Murphy onto the rampway! Rey resets the ten count before throwing Murphy into the ring. Murphy wants to drag him back in but gets an Upkick, then a WWE Headkick. West Coast Pop, Springboard Crossbody! Spin kick to the face, Murphy blocks an irish whip and hits that hand once again! But a low dropkick sends Murphy to the ropes! Murphy stops the 619 attempt again but Rey nails a Tilt-A-Whirl DDT for a nearfall!
They both roll to the apron and fight out there. Murphy with a big boot! Hoists Rey onto his shoulders, Rey escapes to the ring and dropkicks Murphy, sending him off the apron and into the barricade! Rey slips out of the ring with a Baseball Slide Rana that sends him right into the barrier! Rey rolls Murphy into the ring. Goes up top. Crossbody, but Buddy rolls through and powers him up onto his shoulders! Ushigoroshi! Big knee to the face, Brainbuster for a close nearfall! Rey holds onto the ankle of Murphy to try and keep him from going up top but he stomps him and escapes. Buddy going up top now. Rey stops him though. Pace has slowed to a crawl as they’re both battered. Rey pursues him up top. Rey wants a superplex but Murphy fights back. Sunset Flip Bomb attempted, Rey holds on, Buddy tries the Cheeky Nandos kick but Rey blocks it and gets him with a back kick – Canadian Destroyer off the middle rope!! Buddy is sent to the middle rope! Rey with a 619! Mysterio with a Frog Splash for the victory!
Winner: Rey Mysterio
Helluva match! Great stuff! I picked Rey to win but I wasn’t sure during parts of it. I wanna see Buddy holding a singles title of some sort by the time the year ends.
