WWE NXT Results: Dexter Lumis vs. Shane Thorne

No one in NXT can figure out what is up with Dexter Lumis. Last week, he inserted himself into the main event as the partner of Velveteen Dream who was faced with a handicap situation against Adam Cole & Roderick Strong. This came after Damien Priest took out Keith Lee, leaving Dream alone. Midway through the match, Lumis simply appeared on the apron, the ref let him join the match and upon being tagged in he would flawlessly pick apart both Strong & Cole, leaving Cole open for the diving elbow drop of Dream as he dove outside to ensure Strong couldn’t break the pinfall up. He should be in consideration for a title shot, but this week he would simply look to claim another victory. His next victim would be Shane Thorne. Trained by Harley Race, he is tough, but could he figure out Dexter Lumis.

Another Chilling Showcase For Dexter Lumis

The match would start slow, with Lumis fine with having a staring contest with Thorne. Even after being chopped and elbowed by Thorne, he would just stare his opponent down. Only when Thorne hit the ropes would Lumis react, leaping into the air to crash down on Thorne before raining down punches with a Lou Thesz Press. He would follow up with more hard shots in the corner, but Thorne would slip out and ram the head of Lumis into the turnbuckle before kicking him in the back. Lumis showed the impact of this, but would counter out of a Tornado DDT attempt as he threw the 220lb Thorne across the ring.

He would try to follow up with a Fallaway Slam, but a rake to the eyes would give Thorne a chance. This chance wouldn’t last, as despite the explosive offense of Thorne, Lumis would rise again like a Terminiator and hit a spinebuster that would make Arn Anderson proud. Pulling Thorne up by the hair, he would hit a Uranage and lock in the Anaconda Vice for a submission win after Thorne passed out in the middle of the ring. He would cradle the head of Thorne on his lap after the bell rang, a chilling image for sure.

Should Lumis Get An NXT Championship Match?

Given his dominant wins in recent weeks and easy handling of NXT Champion Adam Cole, Lumis very well could be next in line for a shot at the NXT Championship, facing the winner of Velveteen Dream & Adam Cole. Lumis has been rapidly rising through the ranks of NXT, with his chilling gimmick being amazing for the empty arena setting of wrestling in 2020. Do you think Dexter Lumis should get a shot at the NXT Championship? Will his gimmick work once crowds are allowed back at shows? Will he ever blink? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
