The A-Block in the Interim Cruiserweight Championship tournament has the drama of the situation involving Drake Maverick trying to re-earn his job. Combine this with the expertise of KUSHIDA, and it is the fan favorite block. Meanwhile the B-Block is dominated by solid wrestling from top to bottom with vastly different styles. We have already seen former Cruiserweight Champion Akira Tozawa get a win, as well as the debuting El Hijo Del Fantasma getting an upset win over Jack Gallagher. Fans are eager to see more of Fantasma, and they will get that this week as he faces off with Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott. These men know each other well, as in another world they were known as Killshot & King Cureno, where they faced many times. Who would get a win when they clash in NXT?
El Hijo Del Fantasma & Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott Go To War
Fantasma attempting a quick roll up for a one count mere moments into the match would set the frantic pace early. Fantasma would quickly go behind Swerve and take him down, with Swerve getting frustrated. Swerve would finally gain control after a Headscissors Takedown, which he followed up with a dropkick to the head, sending Fantasma to the outside. He would attempt a pump kick on the apron, which Fantasma would dodge. Swerve would adapt on the fly and go for a moonsault which Fantasma dodged as well.
After blocking a running knee, Fantasma hit a step up enzuigiri before sending him back into the ring. He would try to collapse the chest with a big open hand chop, before rushing in with Swerve getting the better of him. Fantasma would find himself on the top rope crotch first, giving Swerve a chance to hit a springboard Frankensteiner, putting momenteum back in his favor and get him a close two count. Now with Fantasma grounded, he would beat him down and try to hit a Dragon Suplex, only to be countered and sent outside after a running Frankensteiner from Fantasma. Fantasma would look for the Arrow From The Depths Of Hell, only to quickly change into a missed baseball slide, which would leave him open to a pump kick to the side of the head.
The End In Sight
This would allow Swerve to take control with a submission maneuver, grinding Fantasma down. Fantasma would eventually regain his vertical base, and dump Swerve back onto the apron, which would only give Swerve a chance to climb the top rope. A diving Sunset Flip attempt would be countered into a stiff dropkick, which would be followed up with a running double knee strike. After hitting a huge Frankensteiner from the top rope, Fantasma would hit a frog splash for a near fall, but Swerve fights on.
They would exchange heavy strikes in the middle of the ring, with Swerve dropped Fantasma with a huge closed fist, which would be followed up with a deadlift German Suplex. Fantasma would slip out of the ring, and Swerve would attempt a Flosbury Flop which Fantasma evaded, and while he was getting back to his feet Fantasma would hit the Arrow From The Depths Of Hell. After taking him back in the ring, Swerve would fight out the Phantom Driver attempt, and after a frantic scramble would get a win with a Crucifix Pin.
Both Men Are Now At 1-1
This was another fantastic match from this tournament, and puts Swerve alongside Fantasma & Tozawa with one win, inching him closer to the finals. Who do you think will win B-Block in the end? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
