Finn Balor has been calling out the NXT UK Champion WALTER for months now, even going to NXT UK to call him out on his own turf. Instead he faced Alexander Wolfe, who he was able to dispatch without much issue. This all began when Imperium members Marcel Bartel & Fabian Aichner came to NXT and attacked Finn. With WALTER unavailable at this time, Finn will try to take another one of his henchmen out, that being Fabian Aichner, who was flanked by his partner Bartel.
Balor Club vs. Imperium Continues
This match would start quick, with Balor coming ready to fight. After a quick pace around the ring, they would lock up with Balor taking Aichner down with a headlock takeover. He would lose control and regain it several times in the opening scramble, as both men scrambled for control. Aichner would toss Balor across the ring, showing his power advantage. Add in a distraction from Bartel, and Aichner would have complete control briefly. He would go for a Sunset Flip, but Balor would roll through and counter with a dropkick before laying some chops in. This would get moving, and Finn would drop Aichner and hit a stiff kick to the ribs. Aichner fled to the outside, but Balor came through the bottom rope to kick him into the barricade, as we went to a commercial break.
Coming back, both men are back in the ring with them back to sprawling for submission control. A distraction from Bartel would again give Aichner a chance to get control, who nailed a huge backbreaker to punish Balor. The back would now be the target, as Aichner rains down hard forearms to it, then whipping him hard into the turnbuckles. Balor wouldn’t be denied forever, slipping out to land more heavy chops and kicks, before being countered and dropped with a huge clothesline for a two count. A powerbomb attempt would give Balor the chance to do a double leg takedown into a quick double foot stomp. Balor would hit the Slingblade, but be unable to follow up as Bartel would distract for long enough for Aichner to attempt a roll up, which he then turned into a one arm deadlift powerbomb, throwing Balor across the ring with ease.
The ref would be checking on Aichner as Balor would pull Finn outside, but he would eat a slingblade for this troubles, as well as a shotgun dropkick through the barricade. Aichner would take advantage, throwing Balor into the apron before rolling him back into the ring to attempt his springboard moonsault. Balor would have this scouted, dodged the attempt and hit a shotgun dropkick. He would then climb the top rope, hit the Coup De Grace, and finish Aichner with a 1918 for the victory.
When Will Finn Balor Get WALTER?
With travel bans in place, it will be hard to get WALTER to Full Sail University when he still lives in Germany. WWE is sticking with this feud, and having both Bartel and Aichner around gives a few more matches to extend the feud, as Balor will likely get Bartel one on one next, then likely have to find a partner to face them as a duo. This buys this storyline a few more potential weeks of progression until WALTER can get around.
