With the recent releases by the WWE, it’s left us and many others wondering what’s in the future for some of the WWE’s biggest stars, and we can’t but wonder the if of Brock Lesnar is AEW bound.
According to several reports, Brock Lesnar’s contract will end in May or June of this year (2020), so it’ll save the WWE some money there. As a habit of maximizing his income, Lesnar as always kept his contracts short so he wasn’t locked in long term at a lower than desired rate, and his last one is rumored to be for twelve months, hence possibly the biggest reason why he dropped the WWE championship.
AEW bound?
Despite fans dislike of him being a part timer, he’s one of the best wrestlers on the planet. Drew McIntyre credited Lesnar with going out of his way to put McIntyre over, and he’s a huge draw because he can put together awesome matches if he’s allowed to.
In many ways, he’d be perfect for AEW, and Tony Kahn should do whatever he can to sign him if Lesnar’s interested.
Lesnar would be perfect to put others over and he could have some awesome feuds with the several wrestlers on their roster. He’d be a dominate force they’ve been trying to sell Jake Hager as, and he’d give them loads of credibility going forward.
He could also bring along Paul Heyman.
Yep, you read that right. Paul Heyman has reportedly said he’s going to leave the WWE when Lesnar’s contract is up, and he’d be a phenomenal addition to AEW as another brain in the creative team. He’s already credited with laying out Lesnar’s matches, so just imagine him with a fresh canvas and Lensar allowed to break out of the German suplex, F-5 rut he’s been in for years. He’s more than capable of putting on great matches if he’s allowed to.
More than talent
Brock Lesnar would also be another voice of experience, along with Chris Jericho, that would help hold others accountable for shortcuts or not doing something right because it looks cool. And if Heyman’s there as a task master, it can only improve the product and get more attention on them.
In short, it’s a win-win for wrestling fans. AEW would grow stronger and we’d continue to have other options available for when we need a break from the WWE.
It could also open up another avenue for Lesnar is he chooses to go that route, and that’s into the movies.
While AEW doesn’t have an in-house movie company like the WWE, it’d allow him to explore other options without having to check with McMahon. That’s an important point considering King Kong Bundy said once that’s why he and McMahon had their falling out, because Bundy did a couple of commercials and McMahon didn’t like not getting a piece of it.
Honestly, Lesnar could be the next Dolph Lundgren and bring a cool new dynamic to action films like Steve Austin, The Rock, and Batista did.
However it works out and whatever he decides, it’ll be interesting to see what Lesnar does.
