This past week on WWE NXT, the main event was going to be a huge first time match for the brand. We were set to see Finn Balor face off with The Velveteen Dream. The past of NXT was going to clash with the future, but this Takeover main event level match was not meant to be. Finn Balor would be attacked and deemed missing before the show could even begin, immediately changing plans. Who attacked Finn Balor?
Imperium Strike Again
For months now, Finn Balor has been picking a fight with the top faction of NXT UK, Imperium. He wants a shot at NXT UK Champion WALTER, but has been unable to get that. Instead he has beaten Alexander Wolfe, Fabian Aichner, and will likely face Marcel Barthel down the line as well. With the issues between these teams far from resolved, the answer could be very obvious and Balor was ambushed by members of Imperium. They are not the only suspects however.
Karrion Kross Claims Another Victim
Two weeks ago, NXT closed out with Tommaso Ciampa admitting he had lost the war against Johnny Gargano. Instead he was ambushed and taken out of action by the man formerly known as Killer Kross, now going by Karrion Kross. With his eyes on the top stars of NXT, Finn Balor would fit the mold for a target of Kross. However, Kross is doing this to build infamy on the brand early, he would have made sure someone seen him take Balor out of action.
Velveteen Dream Hiding His True Nature
While Velveteen Dream is one of the top faces on NXT, you can’t help but see the suspicion placed upon him in this situation. He knew that this match was essentially a number one contenders match for the NXT Championship. This means that should Balor be unable to compete, it would certainly speed up the process towards a shot at Adam Cole. It didn’t pan out this way, but Dream still earned his shot at the end of the day when he pinned Adam Cole in the tag team main event with the Purple Rainmaker.
Who do you think attacked Finn Balor? Was it Imperium, Karrion Kross, or Velveteen Dream? Could it have been someone else entirely? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
