This Saturday at AEW Double or Nothing, fans will see something they have been wanting for years now. Brodie Lee (fka Luke Harper) is getting a World Championship match. Now the leader of Dark Order in AEW, he will face off with Jon Moxley for the AEW Championship. Fans have known for years that this is something is more than ready for, you can recall an outcry for him to be involved in the match between Randy Orton & Bray Wyatt at Wrestlemania 33 for the WWE Championship. This opportunity will only raise his confidence levels, which were low when he was in WWE.
Self Doubt Even Hampered Brodie Lee
We all feel this at some point in life, a feeling of ‘am I as good at this as I think I am?’. In a hyper competitive world like professional wrestling, doubt can be a silent killer. You could be the best wrestler walking the face of this green earth, but if you don’t believe that yourself, it will hamper your ability to compete. During an interview with Sports Illustrated ahead of his match with Jon Moxley, Brodie Lee would speak on exactly this.
“Self-doubt played a huge role in my life for a long time in WWE. It makes you doubt who you are and what you are. I knew that I was a great professional wrestler and I knew I was one of the better ones in the locker room, and I had coworkers telling me that. But that wasn’t the decision that was made. I knew I was better than that, and that’s why I needed to get out of that environment.”
Excited To Fight Jon Moxley
While it doesn’t show with their interactions on TV as of late, Moxley & Lee go far back, all the way back to their time in companies like CZW. “We’ve done this for going on 10 years, starting in 2010 in Evolve. We wrestled in CZW, wrestled in WWE and now here we are in AEW. He’s going to punch me in the face and bring something else out of me.”
