WWE Money In The Bank 2020 is soon at hand folks. We’ve got what promises to be an extremely weird show coming up this evening. The match just recently announced for the pre-show will see Jeff Hardy step into the ring for the first time in a couple of months to face off with Cesaro. Here at the Overtimer you can bet you’ll get the same in-depth coverage as always for the show this evening. That means a live recap and results of the show as they come, plus a preview of everything that’s on tap.
Jeff Hardy vs. Cesaro
For the past several weeks, they’ve been largely pretending that Jeff Hardy didn’t randomly come back to defeat King Corbin a few weeks before WrestleMania and then totally disappear again when they realized they had no Mania plans for him. They’ve been essentially playing a short documentary on Jeff’s life and career, played bit-by-bit each week. In a truly remarkable coincidence, every single time they do this it happens to be called for immediately after a Sheamus squash match. And since there are no fans in the crowd to drown out the commentators, that means that Sheamus overhears it every time Michael Cole brings up Jeff’s name and he’s not happy about that.
Jeff finally returned in the flesh a couple nights ago on SmackDown, called out Sheamus and left him laying. I would’ve thought that they’d just go ahead and announce the two would be facing off at Money In The Bank right there. Even though Jeff just came back they took the time to build the feud for a month or so anyway, so it kinda seemed like the goal was to put that on the main card here. But no, they’re saving it I suppose, as instead they announced that Jeff Hardy would be facing Cesaro here, and on the pre-show no less.
Cesaro of course is theoretically a close friend of Sheamus, they teamed together quite successfully as the Bar for a few years and never had any sort of falling out, only splitting due to injury. But I’m certain that’s not the reason this match has been made, unless they intend to have Sheamus join up with Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura and make that pairing all the more nebulous. Either way, Jeff Hardy over here.
